Best New Features Coming to EA FC 26
Electronic Arts

With another edition of EA’s annual football title on the horizon it’s beginning to heat up the hype. The new title will release soon so player ratings and likenesses are sure to be a discussion point soon. What we’re more interested in are the game’s features, how will they be able to build on the revamp since moving away from the FIFA license? In this, we will be looking at the best new features advertised by EA FC 26 and discussing why they’re cool.

EA FC 26 Best New Features

Revamped Career Mode

The offline career mode has come in for some criticism over the years with the recent titles trying to shift how the mode operates. It’s becoming more and more intricate with player negotiations, detailed scouting, staff hiring, and other features already added to make the mode slightly more RPG in nature. At this rate, you might have to look into web hosting to effectively track all aspects of your own squad.

This year promises to add even more depth to both the manager and player careers. One thing that’s been hyped is new transfers in the game world will alter AI tactics, meaning teams will no longer have expensive bench warmers and would instead move from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3 if they lost a winger and sign a CM.

There’s a bigger emphasis on tasks and stories in the day-to-day or week-to-week management of the clubs. Storylines are said to range from either a few matches to multiple seasons, something that’ll get players more involved than the annual checklist that most of us forgot about after the first month of the season.

Archetypes

Something that’s been seen in other sports simulations is finally bleeding over into EA FC 26. Archetypes can allow for some more interesting gameplay in player career modes. It makes picking your archetype more important and gives you something to play to instead of just trying for the best rating. Assuming it’s in there, then something like a target forward should play differently to a poacher or a deep-lying attacker, each should have their own pros and cons on the field that make gameplay more engaging.

Better AI Competitors

There’s apparently been a lot of work done on making opponents play better which is stellar for offline players. Positioning, play styles, and player roles are all said to play an even bigger part in this year’s gameplay. Beyond that, more explosive and sharper movement is a great step forward to try and replicate the action we see on the pitch in real life.

Goalkeepers are said to have received a much-needed overhaul with their movement and positioning. It will hopefully no longer feel like an animation dice roll when attacking or defending in and around the box.

Deeper Ultimate Team Mode

Ultimate Team has been on the receiving end of possibly the biggest makeover in recent years. While it is still a pack-opening gamble at heart, there’s been an emphasis on making it a much more detailed and deeper experience in recent years.

Already advertised for this year is Challengers, a new tournament focused around lower division players getting their chance to impress, Rivals and Champs coming back with some reinvigorated ideas, new bounties, better live events, and tournaments. UT is sure to be a mode that keeps everyone playing this year.
