Blue Prince just got a little more polished—and a whole lot friendlier to Steam Deck users. The newest patch, Version 1.02, has officially dropped for PC players, and PlayStation/Xbox users should see the same update roll out next week (thanks to weekend testing delays). If you’ve been exploring the ever-shifting hallways of Mt. Holly, now’s a great time to dive back in.
But first—what is Blue Prince, anyway?
Welcome to Mt. Holly, a creepy, mind-bending manor where no two days—and no two rooms—are ever the same.
In Blue Prince, you take on the role of the heir to a mysterious estate, navigating its constantly reshuffling blueprint. Every closed door is a choice, and behind every choice is a new room with unique secrets, puzzles, and surprises. One day, you might draft a cozy sitting room. The next, a death trap. It’s all about strategy, exploration, and luck.
Your ultimate goal? Uncover the elusive Room 46. But that’s easier said than done, especially when the house resets itself each morning and only permanent upgrades (if you’re lucky enough to find them) carry over.
Along the way, you’ll unravel a story involving blackmail, political scheming, and a missing children’s author. Oh, and did we mention the house is basically alive? Yeah. No pressure.
Now onto the patch itself. One of the headline additions in Patch 1.02 is better support for Steam Deck users, thanks to new video file redundancies that improve cutscene playback. It does make the game a bit chunkier in size, but performance wins are worth it.
Other key updates:
Late Game Bug Fixes (Spoilers Ahead!)
Some pretty serious issues in the late game have now been addressed:
Other tweaks include improved HDR lighting, animation fixes in key cutscenes, and updates to missing or untranslated UI elements.
Blue Prince may be a surreal roguelite full of mystery and magical realism, but behind the curtains is a dev team that clearly listens. The 1.02 patch not only fixes some deep bugs but also brings quality-of-life updates that make the game more accessible and immersive across platforms.
If you’ve been waiting to return to Mt. Holly—or you’ve been hesitant to step through that first door—this patch might be the sign you’ve been looking for.
