Pearl Abyss Denies…Sort Of

A report came from the place made of Crimson Desert (also a game developed by Pearl Abyss) that was set to release in November around the 2nd—though the company denied it.

Insider Gaming, the absolute mad lads, were able to reach out to Pearl Abyss for clarification on the rumor. The supplied statement was not a complete denial that there is interest from their side in selling the developer of EVE Online— but as of right now, nothing is really happening in that regard.

“While we regularly review various strategies to enhance our global competitiveness, no decisions have been made, and we have nothing to announce at this time,” the studio told Insider Gaming.

EVE Developer Still Going Strong

CCP Games was acquired by Pearl Abyss in 2018 for a nice little sum of $425 million, and since the acquisition, CCP Games has continued to release updates and support for EVE Online while working on other titles such as:

Unfortunately, CCP Games declined to comment on any of the rumors so far. But in the near future, there’s a chance we’ll be hearing about another game company acquisition from another big-name business.

The question is—will it be Tencent? They’ve shown a huge interest in acquiring gaming companies tied to high-value, high-dollar games, so this would probably be right up their alley for another acquisition under their belt.
