Rick Grimes Is taking care of more then just zombies now in this latest collab with Dead By Daylight. This is an online multiplayer survival horror game that pairs survivors against bloodthirsty killers, where the survivors have to escape the hellish landscape they were transported to, while evading these killers. Among the regular survivors and killers of the game, Dead by Daylight adds popular characters from horror movie and series franchises in the game, all with a specific skill set, particular to that character. The newest characters added to the roster are Rick Grimes and Michonne from the popular series The Walking Dead. Here, I will address the best builds for Rick Grimes and how best to play the titular character in Dead by Daylight.
With the introduction of Rick Grimes as a survivor, there are three new perks you can choose from that come with Rick: Apocalyptic Ingenuity, Come and Get Me, and Toughen Up. Among the perks you can choose to build your characters, there are 4 perks that work best when playing Rick Grimes. These are Apocalyptic Ingenuity (Rick Grimes), Ace in the Hole (Ace Visconti), Plunderer’s Instinct, and Appraisal (Elodie Rakoto).
Apocalyptic Ingenuity is a unique perk for Rick, where you can rebuild broken pallets when going through chests, and it goes well with Ace in the Hole, Ace Visconti’s unique perk, because it increases the rarity of items you can find in chests. Using Plunderer’s Instinct can help you spot chests through walls, and Appraisal lets you use special tokens to go through open chests. Pairing all these perks together focuses your build on scavenging and team support, which is so fitting for the ex-Sheriff, and it maximizes Rick’s ability as a survivor, while messing with the Killers chasing you.
Because this particular build focuses on scavenging and finding chests around the map, keys are the best item for Rick to use. They can quickly open chests, helping you scavenge faster. They also help players locate chests after using keys because they reveal the aura of the chest, making the chests, as well as the items inside, glow on the screen, which again assists your teammates during the match. This definitely highlights Rick’s ability as support in Dead By Daylight.
Key add-ons are probably what you wanna go for when playing Rick. Add-ons such as Gold Token, Scratched Pearl, Braided Bauble, or Prayer Rope are so good with the aforementioned build, because they either let you use keys more often and/or increase the effect of auras on chests or other survivors. This build’s most effective use is its ability to support teammates and take on the offensive by actively messing with killers during chases.
With the introduction of Rick and Michonne as survivors in Dead by Daylight, a new map has been added as well. The Fallen Refuge on Withered Isle is a Walking Dead-inspired map, and it’s creepy as hell. It’s a barbed-wire ruined replica of the hospital Rick wakes up in during the first episode of The Walking Dead, with the iconic Don’t Open, Dead Inside sign on the chained hospital door. It looks like the map features only the hallway of the hospital, with what looks like walkers entangled within the barbed wire. It’s a foggy, nightmarish hell, and is probably the visual manifestation of Rick’s personal hell.
