In the TWID this week, Bungie detailed further information on the gear changes coming in Destiny 2. While the majority of the information is known, a reminder is always welcome. Bungie also explained some of the pass reward changes we can expect in the Edge of Fate expansion. Lastly, we have another developer livestream coming on July 1st to discuss new features in the expansion.
Armor has remained the same since the introduction of Armor 2.0 with Shadowkeep. The Edge of Fate will see a new era with the Armor 3.0 system.
Set Bonuses
Set bonuses are Origin Traits for armor. Each set will have a two and four-piece bonus. Two confirmed set bonuses for the Edge of Fate are:
Armor Archetypes
Each armor piece in The Edge of Fate will have an archetype. These archetypes have primary and secondary stat focus. You can equip a ghost mod to increase the chance of armor dropping with a specific archetype. The tertiary stat on an armor piece will be higher than the other stats, but is chosen at random.
Masterworking
Masterworking is receiving updates with the 3.0 system.
Gear Tiers
The gear tier system notes legendary items from Tier 1 to Tier 5. For legendary armor, the tiers affect the stat rolls, and higher tiers give additional bonuses. Tier 4 pieces have an extra mod energy (11), and tier 5 pieces get a randomly selected tuned stat. The tuned stat will allow players to move five stat points from any other stat to the tuned one or have balanced tuning, which increases the armor’s three lowest stats by one. Tier 5 armor will always have stats of 30 in the primary stat, 25 in the secondary, and 20 in the tertiary. Below are the stats for each tier, with the brackets being when the armor is masterworked.
New Gear
All seasonal gear will feature as New Gear. It will provide a 10% bonus for weapon damage and a 15% bonus for damage resistance. The bonuses do not apply in PvP (except for a specific game mode) and the Contest Mode of the upcoming raid. More information will come at a later date.
The rewards pass is receiving updates in the new era of Destiny 2. We are going back to a four-reward pass model for the Year of Prophecy. Each pass will cost 1000 silver. Instead of certain parts of the pass unlocking over time, all rewards are available from Day 1. Instead of the usual 100 pass ranks, all passes in the Year of Prophecy will have 110 for additional rewards. The premium pass awards players with a full set of PvE and PvP armor. On the free pass, five pieces are split between the two sets. There will be new boosts on the pass:
