Destiny 2: Bungie Announces Further Power and Rewards Updates

Bungie has been under fire recently for multiple issues plaguing Destiny 2. One of the problems is the reward and Power systems that exist in the game. Players feel that they do not earn enough based on the time spent in the game. In the recent TWID, Bungie detailed further changes that should help players earn more rewards and climb higher in Power at a faster rate.

Destiny 2 Raid and Dungeon Reward Updates

Bungie has announced updates coming to Raids and Dungeons in the 9.1.02 update release on September 23rd. More details on the update will be shared in the upcoming TWID. The preview of the changes is:

  • Increasing Power gains from completing encounters in Desert Perpetual Raid
    • 300-500 – regardless of feats active
    • 500+ – four+ feats active
  • All raid rewards from the Desert Pereptual will drop at Tier 3
    • Additional feats increase chances for Tier upgrades.
  • Cutthroat Combatants modifier will count as two feats when determining the quality of rewards in the Desert Perpetual Raid.
  • All Exotic weapons in legacy raid and dungeon activities become farmable.

Destiny 2 Power Updates

Bungie aims to enhance the speed of the Power climb in response to community feedback in Destiny 2. Three ways Bungie wants to do this are:

  • Making Bonus Engrams contribute to the Power Climb until the 550 cap.
  • Adding a new catch-up mechanic for those feeling far behind in the climb.
  • Adding more weekly powerful rewards
    • Increase rewards from completing Weekly Challenges.
    • Power increases from completing activities in Renegades.

Destiny 2 Live Update

Bungie released a Live Update yesterday to increase the base reward drops for some Fireteam and Pinnacle Ops activities:

  • Battleground: Behemoth
  • Battleground: Core
  • Reclaim: Cabal’s Watch
  • Reclaim: Conductor’s Keep
  • Reclaim: Fallen Bunker
  • Exotic Mission: Node Avalon
  • Exotic Mission: Presage
  • Dungeon: Beneath the Necropolis
  • Dungeon: Hefnd’s Vengeance
  • Dungeon: Nightmare of Gahlran

A Step In the Right Direction

Ash and Iron have felt like multiple steps back in finding the equilibrium on rewards and Power progression. Many players have taken a break from Destiny 2, moving over to Borderlands 4 and Destiny Rising until Renegades releases. While these changes do not hit that equilibrium, we are making strides in the ideal direction. Bungie must continue this momentum to have a chance of reaching a stage where players want to play Destiny 2 every day. We hope to see more changes like these moving forward to restore the player count.
