After an extra week of waiting, the Ghosts of the Deep weapons are farmable in Destiny 2. The best option from the dungeon for PvE players is the Rocket Launcher, Cold Comfort. The perk refresh will allow it to challenge Hezen Vengeance as one of the top Rocket Launchers in the game. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways for players to acquire the Stasis Rocket Launcher with Rite of the Nine.
Cold Comfort is an Aggressive Frame Stasis Rocket Launcher. Even before the perk refresh, Cold Comfort was a Rocket Launcher, which PvE players kept in their arsenal. Cold Comfort often got overshadowed by other Rocket Launchers in PvE, but it always had its niche use cases, especially in speedrun strategies.
As with all weapon refreshes, Cold Comfort has twelve perks. The left column has Envious Arsenal, Impulse Amplifier, Perpetual Motion, Rimestealer, Reconstruction, and Tracking Module. The right column contains Bait and Switch, Bipod, Chill Clip, Elemental Honing, Explosive Light, and Sword Logic.
One of the predominant reasons for Cold Comfort’s power was its original Origin Trait, Restoration Ritual. Having the emergency ammo refill increases the damage output. There are two options in the left column that players can choose between. Envious Arsenal is likely the best option since it is a consistent way to reload the weapon, and damage rotations are frequent in the current sandbox. Reconstruction will be better in non-damaged rotations, but those are rare.
Depending on how you can optimize, Elemental Honing will guide your decision-making between it and Bait and Switch. Bait and Switch is a guaranteed 30% damage increase and pairs well with Envious Arsenal. Elemental Honing has a higher peak, but you must build around it to ensure you get the 35% damage increase.
Rocket Launchers are a stable weapon in PvP and rarely get impacted by the perks. Tracking Module is the best choice in the left column as it gives you a higher chance of landing a rocket on your target. The right column perks have little to no impact on the effectiveness of the Rocket Launcher in PvP since they are all PvE-focused. Chill Clip will increase the chance of a kill with the slow.
The Rocket Launcher drops from all the encounters in the Rite of the Nine version of Ghosts of the Deep. Players can attune the weapon to give them a higher chance of dropping the Rocket Launcher. Cold Comfort can also come from the Eternity Chest, Secret Chests, and the chest after defeating the Boss Hunter Hive Guardian before the second encounter. There are four versions of the new Rocket Launcher: Base, Base Holofoil, Adept, and Adept Holofoil. The Adept Rocket Launcher can only be obtained from the Ultimatum version of the dungeon.
