Destiny 2 Community Bands Together to Solve the Chess Puzzle

After hours of decoding and staring at screenshots of Chessboards, the Destiny 2 Community finally solved the ARG. Mr. RoflWaffles was the first to complete the final puzzle, unlocking rewards and a secret cutscene. The community’s teamwork made this happen, and seeing everyone band together to solve the puzzle shows the power of the Destiny 2 Community when they put their heads together. Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD

Destiny 2 ARG Final Puzzle Solution

Players must have completed the 27 puzzles to input the final puzzle solution. If you do not want to go through puzzles again, you can input a secret code to ‘skip’ to the “endgame“. The ‘skip’ is as follows:

• Pawns -> A6+F4
• Knight -> B2
• Bishop -> G7

If done correctly, players will be on the final board. Here is where you will input the final puzzle solution:

• Pawns -> F1+G1+F2+B2+A5+D5+H5
• Knights -> C1+E1+H2+D4+F5+H6+B7
• Rooks -> C2+G2+A4+B5+F6+G6+G8
• Bishops -> D1+H1+A3+D3+E3+E5+C6
• Queens -> C3+H4+A6+B6+D6+E7+A8

Destiny 2 ARG Final Puzzle Rewards

Once you have offered your answer with the final puzzle solution at the front of the room, you have completed the puzzle. Completing the puzzles causes the chessboard and the lights at the back of the arena to light up. A chest will also spawn on the opposite end. The chest contains a new ship, shader, emblem, 25 Strange Coins, Exotic Cipher, 3 Ascendant Shards, and 3 Curios of the Nine.

Destiny 2 ARG Final Puzzle Cutscene

The final unlock for players awaits them in the back half of the arena. Ascend the stairs, and if players approach the pool, there is an interact prompt for players: ‘The Water Reveals All’. Interacting with this prompt plays a cutscene. The cutscene features Drifter and your Guardian. Drifter speaks on grief and what he did between Eris Morn’s ‘death’ and revival in her Throne World. He tried to escape the Solar System, but an unknown entity turned him away. Drifter seemed terrified of the entity. What the cutscene entirely means is yet to be deciphered, but we will get more information in the coming weeks.
