Destiny 2 Desert Perpetual Raid Guide – Agraois Inherent
- Screenshot of Timed Objective in Desert Perpetual couretesy of KackisHD and Bungie

The Desert Perpetual changed the mold for raids in Destiny 2 to kick off the Fate saga. From non-linear encounters to having only boss fights, the new raid brings an entirely different dynamic. The raid delivered on so many facets, and if you get the chance, take on the challenge of completing the raid. This guide will focus on The Inverse Function encounter (The Hobgoblin boss).

Destiny 2 Desert Perpetual Opening

Usually, Destiny 2 raids follow the same pattern. You travel from encounter to encounter. The only raid that has broken this in the past is Leviathan, which randomly selected the starting encounter. For Desert Perpetual, you can choose one of three encounters to start from. You must complete all three encounters before progressing to the final encounter. In all three, you fight against different bosses:

  • Iatros Inward Turned – Wyvern
  • Agraois Inherent – Hobgoblin
  • Epoptes Lord of Quanta – Hydra

How to Choose The Inverse Function Encounter

When you enter the raid, cross the bridge to a circular platform. Turn to the left to find a lift for another platform. Now you will see four plates in front of you. Choose the right plate (“Interference patterns swell”) to head to The Inverse Function Encounter.

Agraois Inherent is another Desert Perpetual encounter that requires swift actions to complete. As the encounter starts, you will notice five portals and three Hobgoblin bosses on the high ground. Please take note of the names of these Hobgoblins; they will matter later.

  1. After some time, a mini-boss Hydra spawns; kill it to progress.
  2. It will cause Time Burden Minatours to spawn
    1. They drop blue Chronons.
  3. Pick up the Chronons and run through the portals one time each.
  4. Wyverns will now spawn, which you must kill.
  5. Three players should head to the plates in the middle to pick up the Temporality buffs
    1. Cyclical
    2. Absolute
    3. Continous
  6. If you noted the names of the bosses, you will notice that the Temporality buffs correlate to them.
  7. If you are fast enough, one of the three Temporality players can go to a deposit underneath their boss
    1. If you take too long, a random boss is chosen that you must align with.
  8. If you are aligned with a boss, that one will start aiming at you with a sniper shot called Variable Elimination.
    1. If it is chosen randomly, the boss will start his attacks before you align
    2. If the timer gets to zero, the boss kills that player
  9. The aligned player will have the Alignment charge on their buff bar.
  10. Next, the other Temporality players must look at the portals.
    1. For each player, two will be blue; call these out to your teammates.
    2. You can assign any name or number to these.
    3. Non-Temporality players must know how to kill Minatours to get Chronons and run through the called-out portals.
    4. Once you have charged the four portals, charge the last one, which was not called.
  11. The aligned player can now run through the portals to gain five alignment charges.
    1. Once they have five, your grenade changes.
  12. All players must group up in one area, in the line of sight of the boss.
    1. The player with the lowest timer must count down.
    2. At two seconds, the aligned player uses their grenade to create a detention around everyone.
    3. The boss will break this detention and begin the damage phase
  13. After a bit, the boss will teleport down, and you can damage him.
  14. At two points during damage, the boss will teleport to the high ground again.
    1. The aligned player does the same process as they did to start the damage phase.
    2. During this time, the boss can be damaged.
  15. Repeat until Agraois dies.
