Destiny 2 Desert Perpetual Raid Guide – Epoptes Lord of Quanta

The Desert Perpetual changed the mold for raids in Destiny 2 to kick off the Fate saga. From non-linear encounters to having only boss fights, the new raid brings an entirely different dynamic. The raid delivered on so many facets, and if you get the chance, take on the challenge of completing the raid. This guide will focus on the Clear Sight encounter (The Hydra boss).

Destiny 2 Desert Perpetual Opening

Usually, Destiny 2 raids follow the same pattern. You travel from encounter to encounter. The only raid that has broken this in the past is Leviathan, which randomly selected the starting encounter. For Desert Perpetual, you can choose one of three encounters to start from. You must complete all three encounters before progressing to the final encounter. In all three, you fight against different bosses:

  • Iatros Inward Turned – Wyvern
  • Agraois Inherent – Hobgoblin
  • Epoptes Lord of Quanta – Hydra

How to Choose the Clear Sight Encounter

When you enter the raid, cross the bridge to a circular platform. Turn to the left to find a lift for another platform. Now you will see four plates in front of you. Choose the left plate (“All are entangled”) to head to the Clear Sight Encounter.

Epoptes is the most time-sensitive encounter in the raid. Any mistakes or delays in mechanics will hamper your team’s clear attempts. The steps for this encounter are:

  1. Divide yourself into three teams of two
    1. One left, one middle, and one right team.
  2. One member on the right and left team is tasked with completing mechanics, while the other focuses on ad-clear.
  3. At the start of the encounter, Time Magistrate Cyclopses spawn.
    1. Kill them to unlock the Vex Lattice on the right and left plates.
  4. One player from each side steps into the Lattice to get Constant Temporality, and they go into their side room.
    1. In here, players will see another Hydra with eyes on its shield.
    2. Next to, or above, the Hydra will be another set of eyes on a wall.
    3. Players must enter the light emitting from the Hydra and call the symbol that is lit up on the wall.
    4. Shoot the eyes that your teammate is calling from the opposite room.
    5. Continue the process until you have shot around four eyes.
    6. If you fail by shooting the wrong eye, the sequence restarts.
  5. The middle team must now pick up the Constant Temporality and head to the boss.
  6. Run into the light emitted from the boss and look at a pillar near you.
    1. It will have three eyes on each wall. The wall pointing left corresponds to the left room.
    2. Call out which eye is not lit.
    3. Middle players must shoot at the eyes of their teammates’ side that are lit up.
    4. Right and left players must shoot at the eye above the Hydra, corresponding to what their teammates call.
    5. Shooting the wrong eyes or taking too long causes a wipe.
  7. Once done, the right and left players return to the middle to get the buff and finish off the eyes.
  8. If all eyes are destroyed, everyone heads to the middle for damage.
  9. The right and left players must now break the last eyes on the boss to start the damage phase.
  10. During the phase, the boss goes immune periodically and spawns rotating shields.
    1. Two players are chosen at random.
    2. Each must stand in a different emitting light to remove the immune shield.
    3. Wait there until more eyes spawn and shoot them down to remove the barrier.
  11. Repeat the process until Epoptes is dead.
