The Destiny 2 Edge of Fate and Year of Prophecy Reveal stream had it all. From a new story to new rewards to new challenges. After closing the Light and Darkness Saga with the Final Shape, Destiny 2 enters a new saga, The Fate Saga. During this Saga, there is plenty of new content to experience. Let us dive into all the details shared on the Livestream.
While there were the Bungie Store leaks over the past few days, we now have a confirmed roadmap for the next year of Destiny 2 content. Beginning today with the Rite of the Nine until the Shadow & Order Major Update on March 3rd, 2026. The upcoming year of Destiny 2 features two Expansions and two Major Updates that will bring new content: a raid, a dungeon, exotic missions, multiple stories, and plenty more.
Key Dates
With the Edge of Fate Expansion, guardians are jetting off to a new planet, Kepler, the home of The Nine. On Kepler, guardians face new challenges and beings far beyond what we are used to. Guardians will shape Dark Matter with the powers of Arc, Strand, and Void. Arc fusion allows guardians to turn into a lightning ball that can fit into crevices and zip around the battlefield, jolting enemies. The Relocator Cannon tied to Void will allow players to bypass laser walls and move around as they wish. Finally, the Strand fusion grants guardians the ability to create new platforms and shape environments.
Guardians will meet new and old faces on Kelper, with one notable new addition. Lodei is described as the perfect fish out of the water by the Destiny 2 Narrative Lead, Alison Lührs. More information on this new character is a secret for the time being.
Bungie previously revealed the Portal to the Destiny 2 Community in the form of a blog post. While the information is more or less the same, the ideas for the Portal allow players to find all they need for the power grind in one place. From Solo Ops to Crucible, there is an activity for all players to dive into and obtain their precious loot. Players can customize their difficulties for higher-tier loot in all the Portal activities.
There is a new gear system coming with the Edge of Fate. Legendary weapons and armor will now be on a tiering system, ranging from one to five. The highest level gear (five) will increase gear benefits like unique shaders for weapons and an additional energy slot for armor.
The entire armor system is getting reworked, dubbed Armor 3.0. The stats have changed and go over 100 to grant further bonuses. Armor will also have specific bonuses based on where the armor set came from, allowing players more build crafting opportunities.
What better way to test your new gear than to head to the EDZ and bully some Dregs? We will not need to do that with the new Shooting Range that allows players to test everything in their arsenal, compete with their fireteams, and hold the highest scores.
The Renegades Expansion arrives on December 2nd, 2025. While most information regarding the Expansion is secret, the theme is Star Wars-based, with the Reveal trailer showing a Lightsaber and what looked to be Han Solo’s Blaster.
The Edge of Fate Pre-Orders are now available on all supported platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.
