Glaives have rarely been the best weapon archetype in PvE and PvP in Destiny 2. Episode: Heresy has seen the strength of Glaives rise thanks to the Artifact perk, No Bell. Their relevancy is still niche with the Artifact perk, but at least there is a reason to use them in the current meta. Greasy Luck received a perk refresh, and the changes do not significantly change its potency.
Greasy Luck is a Rapid Fire Solar Glaive. Glaives are one of the weapon archetypes where perks do not significantly impact their effectiveness. A Glaive will remain playable without top perks, so ensuring you have the best perks is unnecessary. Compared to other Glaives, it is near the top end but falls short of the best Glaive.
Greasy Luck has twelve perks for players to choose from. The perks in the left column are Beacon Rounds, Heal Clip, Lead From Gold, Melee Momentum, Reconstruction, and Replenishing Aegis. The right column’s perks are Chain Reaction, Close to Melee, Incandescent, Redirection, Sword Logic, and Unstoppable Force.
Heal Clip is usually a consideration on most weapons, but Glaives are not one of them. Getting kills with Glaives is inconsistent, and the reload takes a long time to proc Heal Clip. Instead, the two choices are Lead from Gold or Replenishing Aegis. Lead from Gold will always be an option since it increases the ammo total of the weapons it is on. Replenishing Aegis, on the other hand, is the best reload perk, as players will often block with Glaives, so you have a free reload.
The right column has two perks to choose from. Incandescent will help to increase the AoE effectiveness of Greasy Luck, an aspect that Glaives struggle with. The other option is Redirection. Since you spend most of your Glaive time taking down minor combatants, stacking Redirection to deal with major enemies will happen often.
Greasy Luck is not worth chasing in PvP since Glaives do not have much use against other guardians. Getting kills with glaives on your opponents will often feel like a flex more than anything, since their time to kill is not low enough. The best left-column perk is Replenishing Aegis, which allows for a free reload. Close to Melee is the only option in the right column to chain the kill potential.
Greasy Luck drops from all the encounters in the Rite of the Nine version of Ghosts of the Deep. There are four variations of the Glaive: Base, Base Holofoil, Adept, and Adept Holofoil. Players can also find Greasy Luck in the secret chests, the Emissary Chest, and the Boss Hunter Hive Guardian chest. If you want a higher chance of acquiring the Solar Glaive, you can attune to the Glaive. The Adept versions of the Glaive can only drop from the Ultimatum version of the dungeon.
