The Kepler destination weapons for Destiny 2 are overall solid options to chase. They are not meta-defining, but given the ability to focus drops and get them at higher tiers of gear, we recommend spending some time on them. We have recommended roles for both PvE and PvP for you to chase.
All of the weapons from the Kepler destination have a chance to drop from these sources:
The six weapons available from Kepler are:
Heavy Burst Hand Cannons have become a staple for Lucky Pants Hunters in PvE. The ramp-up damage combined with the two bursts makes for a terrifying combination. Agape is the first Solar Heavy Burst Hand Cannon we have. If you are chasing a Lucky Pants version of this weapon, you want Rewind Rounds and Vorpal Weapon. For the non-hunter mains, Heal Clip and Incandescent are the classic combination for solar Primaries, although you are better served using other weapons for this purpose.
For PvP, you want to look at Moving Target and Precision Instrument for the ideal Time to Kill. Triggering Moving Target will happen naturally due to the flow of PvP combat in Destiny 2. Precision Instrument can allow for two taps in PvP with enough points into your weapon stat.
The Giver’s Blessing Auto Rifle is nothing to write home about in PvE and PvP. It is a stable Kinetic Auto Rifle, but will unlikely eclipse other weapons of the same archetype. If you are chasing a PvE roll, you want to look for Rewind Rounds, Shoot to Loot (Hardcore PvE content), or Demolitionist in the left column. Pair that with Kinetic Tremors or One For All in the right column for maximum value.
Moving Target is the only reasonable perk in the left column. The ADS value is lower for Auto Rifles, given that you rarely ADS in gun battles. You can pair Adagio or Multikill clip in the right column with Moving Target, depending on player preference.
Pulse Rifles tend to take a back foot in PvE content. Their only use case is in more difficult activities where you want to sit at a distance. Unfortunately, Last Thursday falls behind already, given that it is an Adaptive Frame. If you are searching for a PvE roll, we recommend Rapid Hit and Frenzy for those long-range, drawn-out kills.
In PvP, we are looking at Moving Target with Headseeker for the lowest Time to Kill. While Moving Target may not be an ideal perk, there are very few options that eclipse it in the left column for this Pulse Rifle.
Similar to Pulse Rifles, Scouts struggle to compete with other weapon archetypes in PvE. For Sublimation, there is an Arc synergy roll with Voltshot. We recommend you use Shoot to Loot and Explosive Payload. The combination is ideal for higher-end content in Destiny 2.
Another Kepler weapon, and another Moving Target recommendation in PvP. It may seem like it is a good PvP perk, but these weapons have tended to be light on PvP rolls in the left column. Precision Instrument does not increase the Time to Kill, so we go with Explosive Payload instead.
PvE Shotguns usually have one use case: Melee-centric builds. Precipial is another of those with One-Two Punch in the left column. The secondary perk does not matter too much, but we are going with Vorpal Weapon to increase our total damage.
In PvP, we want to get up close and personal to kill our opposition. Threat Detector and Slideshot are the perfect combination to dominate your opposition in the Crucible.
The final weapon on our Kepler list is Ulterior Observation. It is part of the newest LMG archetype that got added during The Final Shape. This archetype has become a fan favorite, and Ulterior Observation will fall into that category. Subsistence and Killing Tally is the dream PvE combination, with Subsistence ensuring you never have to reload.
In PvP, it may come as a surprise, but Moving Target is another recommendation in the left column. Closing Time works like a dream, given you will almost always have a low magazine in PvP. Granted, LMGs should dominate regardless of role, as they are heavy weapons in the Crucible.
