We have had plenty of discussions surrounding the new power system in Destiny 2. For those who have not been around, we have a reminder from this week’s TWID. There is additional information on how players will acquire power, so those who have been keeping up with the Edge of Fate will learn new information.

Destiny 2 Power Refresh

When The Edge of Fate starts, all players are reset to 10. The reason behind this change is to make it less confusing for new and returning players. Your Legacy Power will remain visible to you. You can see what your power would be in the old system.

The Power Band in Destiny 2

The updated Power Band for The Edge of Fate is 10 to 200. It functions identically to the Soft Cap in previous expansions. All gear dropped during this stage will increase your power. During this time, players will earn Tier 1 and Tier 2 gear with an occasional Tier 3 drop. The player’s Power Cap will carry into the Renegades expansion.

Destiny 2 Seasonal Bonus Power

The Seasonal Power from the Artifact is removed in The Edge of Fate. Instead, seasonal bonus power is earned through gear drops from more challenging content in PvE and PvP. There are no weekly limits on how much power you can progress. At the start of Renegades, all seasonal power gets removed. Players revert to 200 power. The highest power players can climb to is 450 in the Edge of Fate, increased to 550 with the Ash & Iron update. Once you reach 400( or 500 after Ash & Iron), you will need new Prime Engrams to progress. These engrams drop with higher power and gear tiers than usual. Prime Engrams are no longer limited by week.

Infusion

Infusion for Destiny 2 is updated in The Edge of Fate. Upgrade Modules are gone. You can dismantle these at the start of the expansion for 5000 Glimmer and one Enhancement Core. Infusion will require Enhancement cores from 10 to 200. After 200 players, use the new currency, Unstable Cores. These are acquired from various sources. Dismantling unnecessary gear with Seasonal Bonus Power will be your primary source of Unstable Cores. The higher the bonus power of the gear, the more Unstable Cores you acquire. The larger the difference in bonus power for gear infusion, the higher the costs. All Unstable Cores are removed at the start of the Renegades.
