Prophecy is the final dungeon added to the Rite of the Nine event for Destiny 2. As with previous dungeons, Prophecy has received perk refreshes to its weapons, and each encounter is changed. The Prophecy changes might cause some controversy among players. Find out below what the changes are for the Prophecy dungeon, and let us know what you think of the changes made.

Phalanx Echo Encounter

The Phalanx Echo Encounter is more or less the same in the Rite of the Nine version. The one significant change in the encounter is that you must cleanse a specific plate at the start of each phase. The small ball of lightning (Toland) indicates which plate you must start with. From there, the encounter proceeds as usual until you eliminate the boss.

The Wasteland

The Wasteland encounter proceeds in the same fashion until you clear the final set of blights. A Taken Boss Minatour spawns that you must eliminate before you can proceed. Once it is dead, you can move to the Cube room section. Outside the Cube room, you will find your additional chest from completing the Wasteland.

Cube Room

There is a significant danger in this encounter in the form of a Hive Knight. This Knight is akin to the ones that spawn in the final encounter of Shattered Throne. He is immune throughout the encounter until you reach the final room. Complete the Cube Room by cleansing the correct plates. Once you have killed the Centurions, the shield on the Hive Knight drops, and you can take him down to complete the encounter.

Kell Echo Encounter

As with previous encounters, there is nothing significant that changes with the final encounter of Prophecy. The pre-damage phase is identical, but the actual damage phase is different. During damage, Taken Knights spawn that drop light motes. Two sets of Knights allow you to cleanse two plates. What the cleanse does remains unclear. There is no indication of what it does, but the suggestions are that it delays Kell’s Echo’s teleports.

Four weapons drop from the Rite of the Nine version of Prophecy. Every encounter and chest can drop each weapon, as well as the Emissary chest in the Social Space.

  • A Sudden Death – Aggressive Frame Void Shotgun
  • Judgment – Adaptive Frame Stasis Hand Cannon
  • Prosecutor – Precision Frame Arc Auto Rifle
  • Relentless – High-Impact Frame Strand Pulse Rifle

Final Thoughts

The changes for the Prophecy dungeon are not that extreme. It requires a little bit of extra effort to complete each encounter. The changes are effective since they prevent players from cheesing the encounters as often, and have to run Damage weapons in the non-boss encounters. The only change that does not sit well is to Rainbow Road. While it forces players to take the intended route, it predominantly punishes the less skilled players and solo players. The final encounter change does not seem to matter at the moment. Maybe it will become more apparent in the coming days.
