Following the backlash regarding the Rite of the Nine schedule, the Destiny 2 team has responded. Starting today, significant changes are happening to the schedule, and weapon drops will be available for Rite of the Nine until the Edge of Fate expansion releases. The Destiny 2 team was willing to correct their mistakes within two days of receiving the community feedback.

Destiny 2 Rite of the Nine Schedule Adjustments

The Rite of the Nine Dungeons is moving towards a two-week rotation instead of the pre-planned three weeks. We are currently in the second week of Spire of the Watcher.

New Schedule

  • May 6th – May 20th -> Spire of the Watcher
  • May 20th – June 3rd -> Ghosts of the Deep
  • June 3rd – June 17th -> Prophecy
  • June 17th – July 8th -> All Dungeons Available with one Featured
  • June 17th – June 24th -> Spire of the Watcher Featured
  • June 24th – July 1st -> Ghosts of the Deep Featured
  • July 1st – July 8th -> Prophecy Featured
  • July 8th – July 15th -> Lootapolooza (All Dungeons Featured+New ways to spend Nonary Manifold)

Rite of the Nine Reward Changes

By moving to a two-week rotation, Bungie is changing the rewards system. For the second week in each rotation, weapon drops will increase. Weapons can drop from any enemy defeated during a dungeon run. Holofoils can also drop from defeated enemies. Nonary Manifold drops will be higher across the board. The team is working as fast as possible to activate the increased reward drops for this week of Spire of the Watcher.

When all dungeons are available for selection, the featured dungeon for that week will have the increased weapon drops, starting with Spire of the Watcher on June 17th and ending with Prophecy on July 1st. In the final week of Episode: Heresy, the “lootapalooza” will begin, causing all dungeons to have increased weapons drops for those wanting a final chase for all Rite of the Nine weapons before the Edge of Fate release on July 15th.

Final Thoughts

Bungie’s quick response to the backlash is impressive. At the very least, it shows they are listening to feedback from their players, but it is a worrying trend. It is not the first time Bungie has made significant adjustments to new releases. Realistically, these problems should not be happening on a large scale. Having to make small-scale tweaks is fine. No one expects perfection from releases, but questions will arise in the Destiny 2 community if they fall drastically short of perfection. Hopefully, with the Edge of Fate and beyond, the Destiny 2 team will ship new releases as close to perfection.
