The Destiny 2 Roadmap for the Year of Prophecy is packed with content. New expansions, seasonal updates, a raid, a dungeon, and events are on the horizon for Destiny 2. The upcoming year should be a significant turning point in the game’s lifespan. The community was concerned that Bungie’s focus would shift too far toward Marathon, but with the upcoming Destiny 2 content, the players’ concerns are quelled.
The Year of Prophecy sees Bungie moving away from the one expansion a year policy. Edge of Fate and Renegades are two major expansions dropping in 2025 for Destiny 2. The content does not stop there, as there will be two seasonal updates (similar in size to Into the Light) between each expansion that will be free for all players.
Edge of Fate is the first expansion to kick off the Year of Prophecy and what Bungie has named the Fate Saga. Edge of Fate debuts on July 15th, 2025. The expansion will see the guardians travel to a new planet called Kepler, where they will discover new movement abilities, gear, a new face, and a new raid.
Between the release of Edge of Fate and Renegades is the first major update in Ash & Iron. Players return to the Plaguelands, a location from the Rise of Iron expansion in Destiny 1. The update brings new and returning activities, sandbox changes, new gear, more challenges and modifiers, new artifact mods, and more. The update is free for all players and will be released on September 9th, 2025.
The Renegades expansion will be released on December 2nd, 2025, and is heavily based on the Star Wars universe. Star Wars cosmetics and weapons have been teased for the expansion, which includes a new dungeon.
The final major update for the Year of Prophecy is Shadow & Order on March 3rd, 2026. It has the same updates as the Ash and Iron update and will be free for all players.
All expansions and major updates have reward passes containing exotic weapons, ornaments, legendary cosmetics, and more.
The Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy Roadmap is a beefy one. Players have plenty of content to dig their teeth into over the next year of Destiny 2. Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming content, and remember to grind the Rite of the Nine Dungeons before the release of Edge of Fate.
