The latest free update for Disney Dreamlight Valley is almost here, and Gameloft dropped the patch notes today, August 18. All of the fund details are now available, and I’m going to break them down for you. So grab your favorite fizzy drink and read on!

Emotional Rescue

The central part of the update is titled Emotional Rescue and will take us into a new realm, inspired by the Disney movie Inside Out. There, we’ll be working with Joy and Sadness to repair Riley’s emotions console. We’ll get to explore the Headquarters and locate missing parts of long-term memories! Apparently, the Valley will also be having “mood swings,” and we’ll be helping Joy sort that out. Sadness needs help with fixing a “rainy day” too.

The update releases on August 20, so we have just two days left to wait.

Retro Roadtrip Star Path

Like we mentioned in our previous post, this update will include a new Star Path, Retro Roadtrip. This time, all of the rewards will be themed around retro designs, including furniture items, outfits, and a new Rock and Roll Fox companion!

Star Paths are getting a bit of an update as well. There will be the addition of weekly Routine Duties as well as something they’ve called “creative task types.” It will be interesting to see that in action. They’re removing character-specific Duties temporarily, except for those related to Joy and Sadness. And, according to the patch notes, the Duties available on day one will give you enough tokens to claim all of the regular rewards. Additional Duties will help you get the Bonus rewards.

Duties that require Memory Orbs have been reduced (which is weird since this update is all about emotions and memories). They’ve removed restaurant Duties, crafting training manuals, and Duties that had to be done across several days temporarily, too. But there will also be some new Duty types, including ones that involve the Photo Gallery and Companions.

The Star Path will run five days longer than it has in the past, and there’s a 48-hour grace period after it ends to spend the rest of your Tokens.

Routine  Duties

This is an interesting new addition to the Star Path. We’ll have to see how this feels in-game. Each Wednesday during the Star Path, new weekly Duties will be unlocked. You have to complete them all to unlock the next week’s Duties. Completing all of them will enable you to earn all of the Bonus rewards. Interestingly, if you start late (like, in week two of the Star Path or later), you’ll be able to catch up on the previous week’s Routine Duties. In fact, you have to to unlock the most current ones. So, you don’t miss out on the rewards.

If you purchase the Premium Star Path, you unlock all of the Routine Duties and don’t have to do them in order.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Quality of Life Updates

There are numerous fun improvements included in the August 20 update. There’s enough here to get everyone excited! Let’s run those down.

  • Diagonal fences to match the diagonal paths.
  • A Rift in Time, Floating Islands, if you have that expansion.
  • Customizable ceilings in your house!
  • Easier placement of large items.
  • The ability to equip two Companions at a time! And their benefits stack.
  • Assign Companions to their corresponding villager (like Pua or Heihei to Moana or Maui, for example).
  • Uncrafting now uses Star Coins instead of Dreamlight.
  • Place the special stalls in other Biomes. Once placed, they cannot be removed, though.
  • Photo Gallery feature.
  • Use Motifs in your Dreamsnaps.
  • The Dreamsnaps tutorial with Vanellope is updated.
  • Changes to the Premium Shop UI.
  • Premium Shop new arrivals are viewable in your mailbox. (We’ll have to see how useful this one is.)
  • New items for Scrooge’s shop and the Premium Shop.

Bugs Have Been Squished!

There’s quite a list of bug fixes. So we aren’t going to list all of them, but there are some that we want to draw attention to. Apologies if we miss any you find more important!

  • The Teal Baby Dragon and Black Pegasus will finally be available to collect if you have Storybook Vale.
  • An issue where Duty progress was resetting for some players has been fixed.
  • If your avatar hasn’t been looking at the camera during party photos, you’ll be glad to know that’s been fixed.
  • The Lorekeeper will stop dropping through the floor when you start talking to them.
  • If the NPC you’re hanging out with has been teleporting home when you leave a building, they’ll stick closer to you now.
  • And lots more.

Time to Connect With Emotions and Nostalgia

After all of that, there will be a mini event starting Sept. 3. The Memory Mania event is back, and you’ll have another chance at the previous rewards as well as a new Companion, the Nostalgic Capybara, new decor, and hockey gear. The event ends Sept. 16.

That’s a lot of new activity for the Valley this month! I hope you’ve been saving up your Moonstones for the new Premium Shop items because I know you want that dalmation puppy! If not, the Seasonal Moonstone packs will be back. So you can, of course, purchase more with your hard-earned real-world currency.

Gotta go stock up on crafting supplies! See you later!
