Does anyone else remember watching every single trailer of the Dragon Ball Z Kakarot game developed by CyberConnect2 and released by Bandai Namco in 2020? Any Dragon Ball super nerd needed to have this game. It was hyped up to be the best Dragon Ball game since Fighter Z, and as the gaming community had been subjected to a two-year gap without any decent gaming content for the beloved franchise, fans were practically foaming at the mouth by the time the game released.

It was as good as promised, allowing players to roam around the Dragon Ball universe as some of the franchise’s favorites, setting off Kamehamehas, Masenkos, and Destructo Disks galore. The fun didn’t stop at just a base game, though, oh no. DLCs were released to cover events in Battle of the Gods, Resurrection F, and the History of Trunks, and now the newest Dragon Ball Z Kakarot DLC is set to follow the events of Daima. This new Daima DLC was initially teased to drop sometime over Summer or early Autumn this year, and finally, CyberConnect2 has committed to a date of 17th July 2025.

Sounds Like Summer

Forget the beach episode. Forget the umbrella drinks, the sand in your shoes, and touching grass, this summer is going to be all about staying indoors and working your way through the Daima DLC of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, much like Goku might work his way through a double protein donburi.

Following the events of the new anime, you get to play as kid Goku exploring the Demon Realm, which means new characters, new locations, and a ton of new content. While the July drop is Part 1, it’s not going to be an intense thirteen-year wait for the next one (I’m looking at you, Square Enix), as Part 2 is rumoured to be released sometime from January to March 2026.

The DLC will grant access to several bonus items, such as the Ultimate Meat Feast, Mega Sacred Water, Purple Dino Horn, and the Awakening Water. All of these will give crucial buffs to the characters to increase players’ overall experience. Similarly, the introduction of the Nyoibo to Goku’s arsenal will provide new and interesting ways to engage with combat, as will Goku’s new mini super Saiyan mode.

Single Players Only?

Despite the constant demand these days for multiplayer content, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot’s Daima DLC focuses entirely on the single-player, immersive story experience. It is in keeping with the original game, which did offer some multiplayer features, but was ultimately designed to maximise the single-player playthrough. Some potential players do believe that this is a massive opportunity, as the idea of Daima style Tenkachi Budokai tournaments or tournaments of power, facing off against one’s friends, alone, is enough to get the fans salivating.

It’s not like a single player wouldn’t have enough to do, honestly. The AI for the enemy encounters has been updated to include new moves and new, more strategic gameplay to keep combatants on their toes. The enemies found in the Demon Realm are supposed to be particularly challenging because they have such unique and interesting battle techniques and strategies. It does promise to be a real treat for those who engage with the art of battle like Goku himself, relishing every challenge and desperate for more.

The Art of Waiting

At least we won’t have to hang around wondering when we’ll get to play this jacked-up new instalment of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. With July right around the corner, these next two months will surely fly by, and before we know it, we’ll be loading up our PlayStations, X Boxes, Nintendo Switches or PCs (and yes, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot will be available on pretty much every platform you can conceive of), to load up that iconic opening sequence complete with the immortal earworm Cha-La-Head-Cha-La, excited to explore the new content made for the Dragon Ball universe.

Dragon Ball Kakarot’s DLC will be available from 17th July 2025. The base game and the DLC A New Power Awakens are required to play the new content.
