Okay, so this isn’t your typical football game update. EA SPORTS FC Mobile just added actual, live MLS matches into the game itself. That’s right—you can now watch real soccer games while logged into your mobile game app. It’s like EA said, “What if we gave you less reason to leave the game at all?”

In partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) and Apple TV, EA Sports FC is pushing a crossover that might actually be kind of genius.

What’s Happening and How It Works

The whole initiative kicked off on May 10, 2025, with a big one: the MLS Cup 2024 rematch between LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls streamed live inside EA SPORTS FC Mobile. More games are on the way, including:

  • May 17: Atlanta United FC vs. Philadelphia Union
  • Two more matches in September, with details still under wraps

If you’ve hit Account Level 4 in FC Mobile, you’re good to go. Head to the “Extra Time” section, tap into FCM TV, and you’ll get access to a simulcast of MLS Season Pass on Apple TV (region permitting, of course).

Why EA SPORTS FC Mobile Isn’t Just a Gimmick

Sure, you can watch a match. But EA added some actual reasons to care:

  • Watch-to-earn rewards: Get in-game currency just for tuning in
  • Showdown Player Exchanges: Participate in match-themed content
  • Football Centre updates: Get current events and matchup challenges

Oh, and they’re tossing in a free one-month trial of MLS Season Pass for new and eligible returning subs. You’ll be prompted during the broadcasts to claim it. No outside scavenger hunt required.

Final Thoughts

It’s easy to dunk on EA when they overprice Ultimate Team packs or roll out another copy-paste interface. But this? This is a creative W. Merging live sports broadcasts with EA SPORTS FC Mobile gameplay is actually a step toward making sports games feel, well… sporty.

You don’t need to leave the app. You don’t need another screen. You just sit back, watch your team, and earn some currency while you do it. That’s a crossover that makes sense.

Now, if we could just get that same energy applied to console… but hey, one step at a time.
