Elden Ring Nightreign has been released with a mix of reviews. While this is commonplace in today’s gaming, it is well below standards for the game’s developer, FromSoftware. It is quickly gaining a reputation as one of FromSoft’s weakest titles. To remedy this situation, Elden Ring Nightreign has received its first patch, version 1.01.1, and in this article, we are going to take a look at what the patch includes and how it may impact the game moving forward.
The first patch for Elden Ring Nightreign had an obvious focus on helping players who were having a bad experience with the game while playing solo. This was due to its over-reliance on forcing players to queue up with friends. There were some general bug fixes and balance adjustments, which we will dive into a little bit more momentarily.
First things first were the patch’s adjustments to solo queue players. They have received an automatic boost to the amount of runes that they will gain on their expeditions. This will help solo players level up faster and take down greater enemies more efficiently. Elden Ring Nightreign has also conceded solo players an even bigger buff in the form of an automatic revival effect. The effect “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat”, which allows revival once per night boss battle, has been added to solo expeditions.
The patch also included several small balance adjustments and bug fixes. Most of these bugs involved the ways that various status ailments would interact with players and enemies during specific and small situations. In other words, changes that many players won’t notice, but alas, status ailments have been tweaked to avoid some of the irregular behavior that players have found through the millions of expeditions that have already been run on Elden Ring Nightreign’s servers.
Some more noticeable balance adjustments are related to players’ ability to obtain rare relics that can passively boost each class’s abilities in the game and make the difficult fights against Night Lords a little bit easier. Elden Ring Nightreign’s high difficulty has been nerfed a bit in the patch in the form of two general balance adjustments to make rare relics easier to obtain. The patch has increased the odds of high rarity relics in the Small Jar Bazarr as well as in rewards for expeditions where players reach Day 3.
Overall, Elden Ring Nightreign’s reception has still been positive, with a 69% positive rating on Steam currently. When a game is made to be played exclusively via online multiplayer, there are going to be some minor adjustments that need to be made after the first few days, so the bug-related changes are understandable. The balance adjustments seem to address the negative feedback from consumers in the first few days prior to Elden Ring Nightreign’s release in a fair and balanced way without disturbing the challenging nature of the game too much.
It is my general belief that more times than not, developers will benefit and profit from listening to feedback from the communities that play their games. Therefore, I think the timeliness at which they released this patch and the direction they appear to be going for are trending well for Elden Ring Nightreign, in my opinion.
