Fate/Stay Night’s Saber Now Available in Honkai: Star Rail

Artoria Pendragon, King of Knights, Saber, has been summoned from the pages of myth for our personal enjoyment. Whether or not you approve of the collaboration between HSR and Fate/Stay Night, it’s here, and we have to deal with it. If it’s any consolation, Hoyo seems to have learned from their mistakes with Genshin. Unlike Aloy, both Saber and Archer have fully functioning kits that are integrated into the game. If you ask me, that’s a win.

How Does Saber Work

Saber is a 5-Star Wind Destruction unit. Her Skill is a Blast attack, while her Ultimate and Enhanced Basic Attack are AoE.

Her “Core” Talent

Saber’s gameplay revolves around gaining and consuming “Core Resonance” points, which, when consumed, will Regenerate 8 Energy for her. She gains 1 when she enters battle, an additional 2 if she uses her Technique before the battle, 2 when she uses her Enhanced Basic Attack, 3 when an ally uses their Ultimate, and 3 when she uses her Skill, but her Energy will not be fully Regenerated by consuming “Core Resonances”.

If, however, her Energy can be fully Regenerated, using Saber’s Skill will consume all “Core Resonances”, regenerating the corresponding amount of Energy and increasing the damage of this instance of Skill use based on how many stacks of “Core Resonance” she possesses.

Excalibur!

Her Ultimate, as would be expected, sees her using Excalibur to deal a large amount of damage. The damage deals an initial burst of AoE damage, plus 10 extra instances of damage to random targets. After using her Ultimate, Saber’s next Basic Attack becomes Enhanced. When her next turn comes around, she will only be able to use this Enhanced Basic Attack.

What to Build on Saber

As is to be expected from a main DPS, CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate are the Stats to shoot for. ATK is her primary damage Stat. A little SPD wouldn’t be bad either. Get a Wind damage Orb.

Her best Cavern Relics is the Wavestrider Captain set, and for Planar Ornaments, the game suggests Inert Salsotto (probably for the bonus Ultimate damage). If you prefer, Rutilant Arena is also viable.

Her personal Light Cone is the better option, obviously, but One the Fall of an Aeon and Brighter Than the Sun are both acceptable 5-star alternatives. For 4-star Light Cones, go for either A Trail of Bygone Blood or The Moles Welcome You.

Who Does Saber Synergize With

As with most main DPS characters, turn advancers are Saber’s best friends. She can be a little SP hungry, so Sparkle isn’t a bad choice, but any of them really will work. Allies who have fast charging Ultimates, like Tribbie or Silver Wolf, are good options since they will help her stack “Core Resonances” faster. You’ll also probably need a Healer or Shield, but again, any will do.
