You’ll fight your way through beautiful hand-drawn 2D environments in this single-player hack and slash/beat ’em up RPG. It’s rated Everyone 10+, so younger gamers can take part in battling goliaths as they explore the non-linear levels.

Afterimage was initially released in April 2023 by Aurogon Shanghai and Plug In Digital.

Pixel Cafe

Visual novels are quite popular among cozy gamers, and Pixel Cafe fits right into it. It combines the visual novel format with time management as you run 10 different bars, where you must build up your skill in making coffee and cooking. You’ll also get to decorate and customize your grandmother’s old house as part of a story that crosses several generations.

This single-player game was released in November 2023 by Baltoro Games and Plug In Digital. It is unrated.

Epic Games Store Free Game

Once you link your Amazon Prime and Epic Games Store accounts, claiming this game is a piece of cake. And, Mac users rejoice, this one is Mac compatible. There is one title available from the Epic Games Store this month.

Into the Breach

In this turn-based strategy game, you’ll direct powerful mechs to fight off aliens that have taken up residence and are breeding below the surface of Earth. Fans of point-and-click puzzlers will want to grab this one. It’s a classic adventure in the style of hidden objects and puzzle games. Domini Games developed it and is unrated.

The amusement park is said to be haunted, and people have died under mysterious circumstances. Something has happened to your sister, and someone investigating the matter has requested your assistance. It’s up to you to solve the puzzles and learn what is happening in this dark and frightening place.

Classics from GoG

The seven remaining free titles are all from GOG.com, and although most are PC-only, one title is also available for Mac. To claim these games, you’ll grab the claim code and enter it in the GoG app on your computer.

Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: The Complete Edition

Last month, we were able to claim Civ III, and this month we’re getting the fourth game in the Civilization series. If you’ve played any of the Civ games, then you know you can lose hours to the turn-based strategy of building a civilization while competing with the rest of the world. With a long list of possible countries to lead, various settings for landmasses, opponents, and more, this game will give you hours of game time.

Civ IV can be played alone or against friends, either online or via hotseat. Developed by Firaxis Games and released by 2K Games in October 2025, Civilization IV is a classic you shouldn’t miss out on. It’s rated Everyone 10+.

Tower of Time is “A story-rich dungeon crawler with innovative real-time combat that lets you pause or slow time.” This is a visually stunning RPG featuring seven character classes, skill trees, numerous enemies and bosses, five difficulty levels, and additional impressive features. RPG fans should not miss out on this free game. I’ll be testing it out soon myself.

Tower of Time was released by indie developer Event Horizon in April 2018 and is rated Teen.

Residual

Residual has a very interesting style in that it’s pixel-art and it’s a 2D view. You’ve crashed on an alien planet in this “non-violent survival” game that generates planets so that the experience is unlimited. You’ll be faced with various environmental challenges as you explore and learn about the planet you’ve crashed on.

This single-player game was released by indie developer Orangepixel in September 2021, published by HandyGames. It is rated Everyone 10+.

Dungeons & Dragons Games

Several Dungeons & Dragons gold box games make up the remaining GoG free games in this month’s offerings. These will evoke nostalgia for those of us who remember them from their release in the early 1990s.

DragonStrike: The first dragon combat simulator! It was initially released in January 1990 by Westwood Associates, Strategic Simulations, and SNEG.

Spelljammer: Pirates of Realmspace: D&D in space! Face snail-shaped neogi warships in space and boarding combat in this classic pixel game. It was released in 1992 by Cybertech and SNEG.

Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft Series: Mac users, this is for you (and for PCs). It includes two games, Ravenloft: Strahd’s Possession and Ravenloft: Stone Prophet. In the first, you are invited by Count Strahd to his castle to challenge your party’s skills against the dangers there. And the second takes you to an Egyptian-style setting for more frightening adventure! These are very appropriate for the spooky season! These were released in 1994 by DreamForge Intertainment and SNEG.

Time to Play!

The games from Amazon Prime Gaming give you quite a lot to choose from to fill your month. My opinion is that you should claim everything and then jump into whatever strikes your fancy when you have some free time. Note that the availability of games varies, so some will expire sooner than others. So don’t delay!

When you claim your free games, they are yours forever! So add them to your collection right away, and you’ll never be bored. Don’t forget to follow us because we’ll keep you up on the latest gaming news!

Happy gaming!
