Summer has started in the Northern Hemisphere, which means Genshin’s Summer Event will be upon us. This event is highly anticipated by players, as it provides a lot of exploration, rewards, and a sneak peek into the upcoming new nation. In this case, the new land we will be exploring in 6.0 will be Nod Krai. However, before we get there, we have to make it through 5.8.
All leaks are subject to change. As such, a full, in-depth, definitive analysis of a character, light cone, relic, or event would be ill-advised at this time. To that end, I’ll be covering the base level premise of each character so that you can make a moderately informed decision on which character(s) you want to prepare for.
If you want a full guide for a character, check out my work here when the character is released.
There is only 1 new character set to come out in 5.8, Ineffa. She’s an S-Star, Electro Polearm-user.
Effectively, Ineffa is a 5-Star Fischl. Her Skill and Burst summon a “pet” (Brigitta) that attacks with her. The mean difference between Brigitta and Oz is that Brigitta can move around, whereas Oz is stationary.
Ineffa’s Skill will also create a Shield based on her ATK. As is to be expected from a non-Geo Shield, Ineffa’s will absorb Electro DMG more efficiently than any other Element. It’s also indicated that 1 of Ineffa’s Passives will buff the new version of Electro-Charged (we will get to that later), but the full scope is yet to be determined.
For Stats, as of now, Ineffa seems to like CRIT and ATK. She uses mats from the Corrupted Dragon Weekly Boss, her Overworld Boss material comes from the Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device, her Talent Book is Conflict, and her monster drop is the Sauroform Warrior Whistles.
2 weapons are slated to be released in 5.8. The 1st is Ineffa’s personal weapon. The 2nd is a 4-Star weapon that will be given as part of the Flagship Event rewards.
Ineffa’s personal weapon. It’s a Polearm, in case that wasn’t clear. It provides CRIT DMG as its secondary Stat, gives an ATK bonus to the wielder after an Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst is used (wording seems to indicate any Skill or Burst, not just the wielder), and can buff the new Electro-Charged variant (see below) if the wielder creates a shield. Rather, overload, honestly.
This weapon levels up with Sacrificial Heart ascension mats (Mon/Thurs), Saurian Fangs, and Blazing Prismshells (Furnace Weasels).
The 4-Star weapon. It’s a Claymore with EM as its secondary Stat. Gives bonus EM and restores Energy after Bloom or both versions of Electro-Charged (see below) are triggered.
This weapon levels up with Sacred Lord Mask ascension mats (Tues/Fri), Fontemer Aberrant drops (Fontaine), and Blazing Prismshells (Furnace Weasels).
While the specifics are not fully clear at this time, there will be a new version of Electro-Charged added. It is, for the time being, called either Moonshock or Lunar-Charged. Remember, this is all subject to change.
When Electro meets Hydro, the reaction is triggered (not sure if it has to be that specific order as of yet). Unlike normal Electro-Charge, which is an arcing DoT, Moonshock/Lunar-Charged creates a small storm cloud that will unleash periodic lightning bolts.
Also, unlike Electro-Charged, Moonshock/Lunar-Charged can CRIT, and the damage is determined by all the characters who participate in the reaction, not just the one who triggers it.
We are getting 2 new areas to explore. The first will be part of the Summer Event (see below) and seems to be part of Natlan. The second will be Mare Jivari, which will be like the Temple of Silence from Sumeru.
And, for those wondering, it’s looking like the new area for the Summer Event is where you can pick up the rest of the Pyroculi and Pyro Sigils.
The Flagship Event will be this year’s Summer Event. As of now, it’s called Sunspray Summer Resort. There will also be a picture-taking event called Mementos of Teyvat: Prelude of the Frozen Veil (probably a way to remember past locations before we enter Nod Krai) and a detective event with Yelan called Tracing Vanishing Trials (you use clues to find bad guys).
The bonus rewards event this time around should be Exp and Mora Leyline Blossoms.
The new character cards being added to the TCG are Lan Yan, Heizou, and Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King. A new instrument will also be added. It’s a keyboard. And most, if not all, characters and artifacts (Thundering Fury) that mention Electro-Charged will have their descriptions updated to include the new variant.
4 new Thespian Tricks are also coming. The characters that will receive them are Razor, Wriothesley, Chasca, and Yun Jin.
Final note, I will be doing a live stream of 6.0 on release on my YouTube channel. The release date for Version 6.0 should be Sept. 9th. I’ll start the steam around 11 pm CST. Come hang out so I don’t end up spending 6 hours or so talking to myself. Link to the channel can be found here.
