Genshin Impact Previews Nod Krai’s Cast of Mysterious Character

Nod Krai is only 6 Weeks away at this point. Speculation about it’s cast is abound. Especially after Hoyo dropped the Song of the Welkin Moon teaser, 2 Fatui Harbingers, 2 members of the Hexenzirkel, the long-awaited Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, Durin, and several other regional characters who have yet to be touched on in lore were announced. The question is, what can they all do?

Columbina: Moon Maiden of Mysteries

Of all the characters in Nod Krai, she’s the one I’m personally looking forward to the most. Besides her already mysterious nature, she’s also clearly being built up as the Archon equivalent for the version. This, combined with her high position within the Fatui Harbingers, seems to indicate that she will most likely be the strongest character of the version.

While we don’t know what her weapon type will be (leaks have it either as Polearm or Catalyst), it’s fairly clear that she will be a Hydro character. Between the water walking, the water heels, the water flower she creates in the Welkin Moon Web Event, and the Moon connection, all signs point to her making quite the splash.

Considering her title as “Moon Maiden”, her kit will probably revolve around some sort of Lunar reaction. The question is, will she be more DPS oriented (like the previous Harbingers) or more Support oriented (like the Archons). We’ll just have to wait and see.

Sandrone: Sinister Clockwork Conundrum

While leakers are unsure whether Sandrone will be playable in this version, the fact that she was given a character announcement provides hope that she will be. As perhaps the 2nd most unpleasant of the remaining Harbingers, she is a fascinating puzzle for most fans. We know very little about her, and what we do know is somewhat troubling. Still, she ends up being playable; it will be interesting to see how she “redeems” herself. Or, at the very least, softens her hard edges.

Since we know little about her, we can only speculate as to her weapon and element. Leakers have her as a Catalyst-user, which makes sense. I doubt she will be a melee character. Bow is also an option in that regard. Most likely, her kit will involve manipulating the robot that is carrying her. As for her element, Electro is still my bet.

Alice: Mother of Destruction

Thanks to Skirk’s voice lines, we now know that Alice’s function in Teyvet is to maintain its cosmic borders. This, combined with Albedo’s description of her as a “nigh-omnipotent mage,” indicates that she will be quite the powerhouse. Leakers have her down as a DPS character, and I see no reason why that would be inaccurate.

As a witch of the Hexenzirkel and a mage, it’s pretty obvious she will use a Catalyst. She clearly has a Pyro vision, so that answers the question of her Element. As for her kit, we won’t know until she comes out, but considering Klee’s penchant for dropping bombs, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Alice ends up nuking her enemies with a literal nuke.
Side note: I want that hat.

Nicole: Voiceless Guide

Yet another character that Skirk’s voice lines have given us insight into. Namely, that she was once something other than “human”. What that something is, we can be sure, but most speculation seems to lean towards her being a former angel. The golden wings she sprouts in the Song of the Welkin Moon teaser only adds more fuel to this particular fire.

As with Alice, Nicole is a member of the Hexenzirkel and is expected to be a Catalyst-user. Her Element is not yet known as golden light wings aren’t exactly tied to any particular Element. Leakers have her down as a Cryo Support who works in tandem with Alice. Another option is Dendro, considering her powers of Telepathy and her immunity to memory rewriting.

Varka: The Legend Revealed

At long last, the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius has finally graced our screens with his presence. And, to be fair, it was worth the wait. He’s exactly what we all expected, and a little more. That said, with the amount of stories that have been told about him by others, he has a lot to live up to.

Clearly, he is an Anemo Claymore-user. I think it’s also safe to assume he will be DPS. As for how his kit works, based on the fact that he seems to be covered in scars, my best guess is that he will be an Infusion-based damage dealer who gets up close and personal. He’ll probably also have a dash of some description.

Durin: Child of Magic and Myth

Huzzah! Finally, the continuation of Durin’s storyline. Even with his new body in 5.6, I was concerned that his story would fall by the wayside. Nice to know that Hoyo didn’t forget about him. Considering his lore significance (he’s effectively the grandson of Nahida, Ei, and Rhinedottir and the son of Andersdotter and The Wanderer), it would have been very disappointing.

He has a Pyro vision, though it is hard to see. He’s described by leakers to be a Sword-wielding Support with high Off-Field Pyro application. Maybe he’ll finally replace Bennett ad Xiangling in the meta. I’m guessing he might summon and clone of himself to breathe fire (if he will indeed have an Off-Field application).

Nefer: Traveling Wisdom

Of the “new” characters revealed in the Song of the Welkin Moon teaser, Nefer is probably the one I’m most interested in. I like her design, and she comes off as rather mysterious and interesting. That said, I’m not sure if she is supposed to be a cat or a snake.

She has a Dendro vision from what seems to be Sumera. Current leaks have her as DPS who wields a Bow. In terms of her kit, I doubt she will be a Charged Attack character (since we already have Tighnari). That leaves Normal Attacks (like Yoimiya) or a Stance character (Like Childe). If her design is supposed to be a cat, I thing Stance is the best option. If she is a snake, Normal Attacks with a poison theme.

Lauma: Priest of Nod Krai

The cantering priestess of the Frostmoon Scions was the 2nd character from 6. X revealed (the 1st was technically Aino). Her ability to transform into a centaur-like form seems to indicate that she will be very useful for traveling around Nod Krai.

She is a Dendro character (as seen by her vision), and it is speculated that she will be a Catalyst-user (seems 6. X might be trying to revive weapon type). It’s also assumed that she will be a Support. Mostly, she will have a Tap and Hold Skill, with the Tap Skill being some sort of Buff or consistent Dendro applicator, and the Hold Skill transforming her into the centaur. She will probably have a Lunar reaction, especially since she is a Frostmoon Scion.

Flins: Brightly Lit Gloom

It’s said that the Lightkeepers are having trouble holding back the Wild Hunt. Assuming Flins is an example of their power, it seems to be an issue with the quantity of members, rather than the quality. I guess there can only be so many places at one time. Still, for a faction with as much significance as the Lightkeepers, I’m surprised we only have 1 member teased.

Flins is an Electro unit (his vision is on his back), and current rumors are that he is a Polearm-user (although previous leaks had him down as a Bow). We’ll have to see. That said, as a member of the Nod Krai’s cast, I’m guessing he, too, will have a Lunar reaction. The question is, will his be more potent than Ineffa’s?

Jahoda: Nod Krai’s Resident Gadfly

Not a lot is known about this character, save the fact that she’s chatty and clearly a little oblivious. Her mechanical arm and googles give the impression that she’s a member of the Clink-Clank Krumkake Craftshop. What her exact function is, we will have to wait to find out.

No vision or weapon has officially been attributed to her, but considering her name means “strawberry,” my best guess is she will be Pyro. As for her weapon, I have no idea, so I’ll just say Sword. I’m also guessing that her mechanical arm will play into her kit somehow.

Aino: Child Prodigy

I think it’s safe to assume, based on Ineffa’s character teaser, that Aino is the founder of the Clink-Clank Krumkake Craftshop. As such, she’s probably a very intelligent, if somewhat introverted, individual. Current leak has her as the free 4-star character we get for the new area. We’ll see if that’s true in a few days.

Leakers have her down as a Hydro Claymore-user. If this holds, she will be the 1st Hydro Claymore character in the game… after almost 5 years. That seems rather late in coming. She probably won’t do much in terms of the meta game besides help to enable Lunar reactions, but that’s kind of her purpose, like Kachina, Lynette, and Collei before her.
