God Of War Multiplayer Sadly Canceled

A canceled God of War multiplayer game has surfaced, revealing tantalizing details about Greek mythology, Hades’s cursed selection of armory, and Bluepoint’s mysterious new project. Could a full remake be on the horizon?

The Multiplayer Myth That Almost Was

Imagine the God of War game where you and your friends plunge into the sulfur-soaked depths of Hades’ realm, battling cursed warriors and unlocking ancient armories. That dream was nearly a reality. Bluepoint Games, the studio behind the masterful remakes like Demon’s Souls, had been quietly developing a multiplayer God of War title set in a Greek-inspired world. Leaked screenshots show sprawling temples, eerie caverns, and a corrupted armory that may have belonged to Hades himself.

The environments weren’t just beautiful, as they were built for battle. Layouts hinted at cooperative and competitive gameplay, with status effects and environmental hazards that could turn the very tides themselves. The presence of Hades suggests the game was set before God of War III, opening up rich narrative possibilities. And the aesthetic? A haunting fusion of Greek and Norse mythology, with Einherjar-like statues and glowing green weapons reminiscent of Ragnarok.

But Sony pulled the plug. Alongside another liver-service title from Bend Studio, this multiplayer experiment was shelved, reportedly due to concerns about long-term viability and fan skepticism toward live-service models. The cancellation left fans stunned, but the story doesn’t end there.

Here’s where things get thrilling. Bluepoint is now working on a third-person melee action game. Job listings and insider speculation point to one electrifying possibility: a full remake of the original God of War. With Greek assets already developed and a proven track record of elevating classics, Bluepoint could be preparing to unleash Kratos’ original rampage through Olympus with modern visuals, redefined combat, and maybe even remnants of the canceled multiplayer design.

This new game is a revival of classic Greek games and mythology, catering to fans who want to play as their favorite gods on a gaming platform. Fans are already buzzing with anticipation, imagining what a reimagined God of War could look like with today’s tech and storytelling. The rage of Sparta is stirring once more, and if Bluepoint delivers, it won’t be a return to form- it’ll be a myth reborn.

As a lover of mythology, I am eager to play this game, as I want to explore the types of gods, both Norse and Greek. From Hades’s Helmet of Invisibility, Hermes’s Winged Sandals, and Thor’s Mjilner. I want to see more recognition of gods like Aphrodite, Persephone, Hera, Hecate, Fenrir, Heimdall, Loki, Freyja, and many more.

Get ready. The gods may have been silenced on one vision, but another is rising.
