GTA 6 rumored to bring back basketball mini game

Those who played the critically acclaimed "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" know a thing or two about the cool in-game basketball feature.

Like with any GTA game, players were encouraged to go aloof and not focus on just the main mission, and in this case, the protagonist CJ could stop by any of the courts around San Andreas and just shoot some hoops. CJ could also throw down some windmills and spin a basketball on his finger. However, he couldn't play against others.

If the rumors are to be believed, GTA 6 — arguably the most-anticipated video game title in history — is set to bring back the in-game basketball feature, but this time in a 3 vs. 3 pickup game format.

GTAVI_Countdown, an X account dedicated to everything GTA 6, speculates that LeBron James will be a playable character as part of the in-game feature.

The speculation stems from Rockstar Games acknowledging James’ fandom for the GTA series via several Instagram posts over the past few years — particularly after the Lakers star praised the GTA 6 trailer that dropped in December.

Furthermore, Reddit user Well_Look_Whos_Back, who correctly predicted all the elements used in the initial trailer, wrote in December that a 3 vs. 3 basketball feature is all but confirmed for GTA 6.

The user's identity has been a topic of discussion among gamers, with some suspecting them to be either a Rockstar Games developer or the hacker who leaked GTA 6 gameplay footage last year.

And finally, the first GTA 6 trailer dropped subtle hints about the involvement of basketball, with several characters seen standing outside a court.

At this point, there's no official confirmation from Rockstar Games on the rumored basketball feature.

All we know is the game is slated for a 2025 release, per the developers. Also, the next GTA 6 announcement is expected to take place in May.
