Hat Kid Officially Joins Fraymakers Roster in Exciting Update

Posted on their social media, footage showcasing the character. Announcing that they will be added to the roster on September 18th, 2025, for players to get their hands on. Much like a Super Smash Bros. fighter, Hat Kid comes packed with a moveset referencing her original game for players to point out and enjoy.

Being the first new fighter added to the game in some time, she has come with a new interest in this crossover fighter–highlighting the efforts continued by the developers to maintain support for the game.

What is A Hat in Time?

A Hat in Time is a 3D platformer released on many different platforms, like the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox. Releasing on October 5, 2017,  the game stars a kid who has to collect hourglasses in a collect-a-thon style of gameplay–familiar to those of the bear and bird duo— in a new age that seemingly brought on the renaissance of mascot platformers once again. It became a surprisingly popular release, though it has yet to see a sequel all these years later.

As the Hat Kid, you explore many worlds to obtain items and meet new people along the way. With the focus being on the use of her Parasol as a melee weapon, her platform techniques to make traversing the world a breeze, as well as hats that she collects along the way to switch into–changing what she is capable of using to perform what is needed!

What is Fraymakers?

A platform fighter akin to the Super Smash Bros. titles that focuses on characters from indie properties. So instead of expecting fighters like Mario, Link, and Sonic–you are introduced to Orcane, Commando Video, and a slew of assists ranging from the hit Among Us, Pizza Tower, and Fancy Pants Adventures, in particular for those who grew up playing browser-based games.

Much like Rivals of Aether, it is a title primarily played on PC. With a workshop that encourages fans to create their own line of content for the game, from fighters to stages. Creating a customizable experience that allows anyone with the freedom and skill to take matters into their own hands!

It is developed by McLeod Gaming, who, to those familiar with a certain fan project out online, will be well acquainted with the developers as they have proven to be experienced with creating a quality platform fighter for players to entrust in. Releasing just two years ago on January 18th, 2023, Fraymakers is slowly adding new content as it fulfills the Kickstarter that the game earned its funding from.

What to expect with Fraymakers x A Hat in Time?

Unlike a big-budget title, there is not much to look forward to with the collaboration. While not much has been revealed about what will be included–she does come with a stage! Featuring the Snatcher, a creature that appears multiple times in the original A Hat in Time game.

For the first time, Hat Kid crosses over in a fighting game experience, and hopefully is a sign for things to come in the future. Perhaps we can expect future additions of a certain shovel-wielding warrior or purple dragon to join, adding more iconic characters from the indie scene. Most definitely, maybe one day we can see Fraymakers try to include characters from the major hit UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE, with many options that could please fans.

Though to players actively into who they want to see, perhaps we can at least see them being produced by fans!
