Haunted Chocolatier is the next eagerly awaited game from Eric Barone, better known as “ConcernedApe,” who created the Thit farming simulator Stardew Valley. The good news is that we have a window for when the game will probably be released. The bad news is that the window is five years wide.

What is Haunted Chocolatier?

The game’s official site describes it as a simulation where you are “a chocolatier living in a haunted castle. In order to thrive in your new role, you will have to gather rare ingredients, make delicious chocolates, and sell them in a chocolate shop.” Barone says he wants the game to be “positive, uplifting, and life-affirming,” and he wants to “explore more fantastical possibilities.”

That Sounds Great! Now When Will It Be Released?

Creator Eric Barone has shown plenty of love for Stardew Valley ever since it was released. He has released several major updates, adding content to Stardew Valley on a regular basis. While this has been great for Stardew Valley fans, it also takes time away from working on new games. According to The Gamer, Barone has a goal to release the game within the next five years.

We Have to Wait Five Years?

It has to be noted that the release goal is within five years, meaning that the release could come sooner. Still, it doesn’t appear that Haunted Chocolatier is coming any time soon, and the longer a game takes to be released, the more risk there is of gamers getting tired of waiting and just picking up something else to play.

However . . .

Look at how much hype the second Grand Theft Auto VI trailer has generated, and it’s been over a decade since the last Grand Theft Auto game was released. Sometimes, a long wait time can build anticipation from fans. However, Barone might not want to wait too long and risk alienating fans or making them give up. He’s been feeding them Stardew Valley updates, but he might want to focus his energy on Haunted Chocolatier instead for a while. After all, who doesn’t want to make chocolate in a haunted castle?
