Unhinged on Netflix is a horror game that can be played using nothing but your phone. Starring Zoë Kravitz, Sadie Sink, and Troy Baker, the title turns your mobile device into a controller while placing you in the middle of a tense survival story.
You play as Ava (Zoë Kravitz), who gets trapped in her apartment building due to a Category 5 hurricane. Her friend Claire (Sadie Sink) remains on the phone with her, but it’s not all as it may seem.
The game is atmospheric and features enjoyable performances from the cast. In fact, it’s even quite inviting and playable for horror fans.
This may be surprising to some. After all, gamers are used to playing games on their PC or console with dedicated controllers or KBM.
Netflix’s Unhinged turns your phone into a controller, which can be linked to your TV or monitor to play the game. The same is echoed in this X post by the streaming platform.
You should have run when you had the chance.

To play the game, you need an active Netflix subscription. With your phone ready, turn on Netflix on your TV or go to the website on your PC.
Log in and click on the “Games” tab on the top bar. You should find Unhinged in the featured section, but if you don’t, you can simply look for it by scrolling down.
Click “Start the game,” and it’ll show you a QR code. This is where you use your phone to scan it, and voila, your phone will become a controller in your hands.
You will be able to use it as a cursor in the game’s menu and to control the character once the game starts.
Netflix has steadily been releasing interesting games via its subscription service. However, this may be one of the most attractive titles on the streaming app.
Unhinged on Netflix offers an interesting experience. It’s an atmospheric, narrative-driven game by a streaming giant on its own website. This alone highlights its uniqueness in the genre.
Moreover, the game has decent graphical quality, which may appeal to modern gamers. More importantly, the mobile phone feature in Unhinged really stands out.
When Ava receives a phone call or text in the game, your actual phone will vibrate or play a sound cue. This takes immersion one step deeper as you control the character’s movements with your own in real time according to Netflix.
The game brings the award-winning composer of films like Gone Girl and Mindhunter, Jason Hill, to center stage. Furthermore, sound designer Ren Klyce, known for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, also worked on the game’s audio to make it more immersive.
Overall, thanks to the cast, the sound designers, and the narrative designers from the Oxenfree games, Unhinged on Netflix truly stands out.
If you already have a Netflix subscription, it’s certainly worth trying.
