How to Unlock Mega Victreebel in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Once you have a Weepinbell and a Leaf Stone, simply open your satchel, select the stone, and use it on Weepinbell to trigger the evolution.

How to Defeat Rogue Mega Victreebel

The key to unlocking Mega Victreebel is to defeat it in a Rogue Mega Pokémon battle. This encounter takes place during Main Mission 13.

Mission Location and Preparation

You will find the Rogue Mega Victreebel in Magenta Sector 9, where your ally Naveen will be waiting. As you approach, a cutscene will trigger, and the battle will begin.

Before heading into this fight, it’s wise to prepare. Stock up on healing items, especially Super Potions, Revive Potions, and Poison Potions, as Mega Victreebel relies heavily on poison-based attacks.

Rogue Mega Victreebel is a Grass/Poison-type, which makes it weak to Fire, Ice, Psychic, and Flying-type attacks. It is resistant to Water, Grass, Fighting, Fairy, and Electric-type moves.

One of the best Pokémon to bring to this battle is Camerupt. By this point in the story, you should have already defeated Rogue Mega Camerupt in Mission 12 and received its Mega Stone, Camerupite. A Mega-Evolved Camerupt can deal massive Fire-type damage, making it an ideal counter.

Battle Strategy and Attack Patterns

The fight against Rogue Mega Victreebel is a dynamic, action-based battle. You’ll need to dodge its attacks while commanding your own Pokémon. Here are the attacks to watch out for:

• Bullet Seed: Victreebel fires slow-moving seed projectiles. You can easily dodge these by moving sideways and then counterattack.
• Vine Whip: When you get too close, it will unleash a powerful whip attack. Maintain a safe distance and watch for it to stretch slightly, which is your cue to dodge away.
• Poison Puddles: The most dangerous attack. It spits globules of poison that create lingering puddles on the ground. Avoid the initial impact zone and do not step in the puddles, as they will damage both you and your Pokémon.

Your strategy should be to wait for an opening after Victreebel attacks. After it uses Vine Whip or Poison Puddles, there is a brief window where you can safely command your Pokémon to strike.

Focus on collecting the Mega Power Orbs that appear in the arena to fill your Mega Meter. Once it’s full, Mega Evolve your Camerupt (or another powerful counter) to deal significantly increased damage. Continue collecting orbs to keep the Mega Evolution active.
