KT managed to do the impossible the last time they faced GenG in the LCK Playoffs. Starting well in this series is pivotal to put doubt in GenG’s minds. KT seemed to wrestle control away from GenG, but it all went wrong in a short space of time. Despite KT getting Atakhan into Drake, GenG managed to expand their gold lead by destroying towers. KT could never find the angle in a teamfight to find one of GenG’s carries.
Bdd was a pivotal reason for KT’s upset in their previous series. Besides a flash Tibbers angle, Annie lacks the carry potential that we saw from him on champions like Zoe and Cassiopeia. If he falls behind, he will struggle to take down anyone on GenG. His best target will be Chovy’s Orianna. However, later in the game, Chovy should build Rod of Ages, Seraph’s Embrace, and Zhonya’s Hourglass, making him tankier.

After Bdd and PerfecT managed to find Kiin in the botlane, they rushed down the Atakhan. A follow-up kill on Canyon earned them a Drake. However, the gold remained in GenG’s favor, and one mistake from Cuzz in GenG’s jungle allowed them to take over the rift. The lead went from around 1k to almost 4k in an instant. GenG showed why they have become a feared team and why KT’s win was such a shock.
GenG knew that the only way they would lose teamfights was by giving KT angles on their carries. They never allowed them to get close, forcing KT to engage on Canyon and Duro. Both could tank the damage, allowing for the rest of the team to crush KT. The only time KT managed to kill Chovy was when they were down 10k gold. It took almost everything to take him down, meaning GenG cleaned up the rest of the fight, and Ruler got an unofficial pentakill.

Player of the Game – Ruler
GenG was not their very best during game one, but they look more stable. The near loss to T1 has seemed to wake them up. We will need to see more from KT and likely put Bdd on more carry champions if they want to cause another upset and head to the LCK Grand Finals.
