Only one team has remained undefeated in LoL Esports. Gen.G Esports did not lose a single series in the LCK Cup. They had no one to challenge them throughout the tournament. Had T1 or Hanwha Life Esports reached their expected form, maybe they would have had a challenger. However, right now they appear to be the best team in the World. First Stand will be the place to prove it.
Gen.G played eight series in the LCK Cup, and they won all of them. In those series, they only dropped two games out of the possible twenty-two that they played.
Kiin
Much like the rest of his teammates, Kiin was the best top laner in the LCK Cup. He had one dip in performance against DK. His Rek’Sai was one of the worst games he has played in his time on Gen.G. For the rest of the matches, he was the best player in the tournament.
Canyon
Canyon had crazy moments during the LCK Cup. During one game, he managed to steal two objectives with Jarvan IV’s Demacian Standard. After Raptor’s dominant performances against T1 and DK, Canyon shut him down in the Upper Bracket and Grand Final.
Chovy
Chovy had the best Total Apex rating out of all the players in the LCK. His being at the top of the list comes as no surprise. His best performance came in game four against DK. The rest of the team was struggling around him. Despite that, Chovy delivered the best Aurora performance in the LCK. His performance carried them to the Upper Bracket Final.
Ruler
Ruler rarely had to stand out during the LCK Cup. His topside often delivered carry performances. That meant he needed to remain stable and perform in the pivotal moments. That is exactly what Ruler did. He still has his moments on mid-lane in the Ruler spot, but other than that, he was the best LCK bot laner.
Duro
Much like Ruler, Duro did not need to be at his best in most games for Gen.G to win. He managed to provide exactly what Gen.G needed in teamfights. He was the final piece of the puzzle they needed to win the LCK Cup.
Gen.G was by far and away the best team in the LCK Cup. Losing only two series, they showed that no one is near their level. They benefited from T1 and Hanwha Life Esports’ worse-than-expected performances. They might get a better challenge when those teams return to form. But first, they must travel to Brazil for the First Stand. After missing out on the competition last year, they are hopeful to win the tournament this year.
