After an explosive rookie season that saw Nacua record over 1,400 yards on 105 catches, EA Sports made sure to recognize Matt Stafford’s new #1 target. Make sure to keep an eye out for this player item, which boasts a 95 OVR.

Madden 24 is releasing a Record Breaker MUT item for L.A. Rams receiver Puka Nacua today. Overall, the card stats include:
- 95 OVR
- 95 SPD
- 90 JMP
- 94 CTH
- 94 CIT
- 94 SPC
- 94 SRR
- 95 MRR
- 95 DRR
Based on Nacua’s performance this season, he definitely deserves to be the Record Player item on MUT. After a stellar rookie season, Nacua helped his Rams team, which started 3-6, win seven out of their last eight to secure a playoff spot. He ended the regular season breaking the regular season NFL records for catches (105) and yards (1,486) for rookies.
In his postseason debut, Nacua recorded 9 catches for 181 yards and a touchdown in the 23-24 loss against Detroit. Although L.A. failed to mount a comeback, they have plenty to be excited for next year. Matt Stafford is on contract to play next year, though his future with the team remains murky for now. However, should he remain, he’ll have two great weapons in Cooper Kupp and Nacua.
Additionally, Nacua ended the season with his first Pro-Bowl nod, as well as a Second-Team All-Pro honor. We feel these could be the first for many for a player with a promising career ahead. However, it’s now up to #17 to avoid a potential Sophomore slump. Depending on how the Rams look next season could really affect his output.

We give some leeway to Addison, who earned 10 touchdowns despite playing with multiple QBs this year. However, Nacua earned the same amount of yards as Zay Flowers and Jaxon-Smith Njigba combined. Puka Nacua definitely deserves to be the Madden 24 MUT Record Breaker.

Brewers officially have a legit MVP candidate
On Tuesday night, the Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak to 11 games, and a key part of the team's momentum is a player who is in the National League MVP race. The red-hot Brewers entered Tuesday night facing one of the biggest threats to their winning streak, Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes. Milwaukee torched Skenes for two home runs and four earned runs in 4.0 innings pitched. Brewers first baseman Andrew Vaughn added extra damage in the sixth inning with a three-run home run that increased Milwaukee's lead to 12-0. Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Vaughn is in the NL MVP race after his home run on Tuesday night. "Andrew Vaughn suddenly in top 10 NL MVP discussion with another 3-run HR, giving him 32 RBI since joining the Brewers," Nightengale posted on X. "He is the gift that keeps on giving from the White Sox. They are about to go 24-4 since his arrival." Vaughn has helped the Brewers overrun and then take a commanding lead on the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Following their 14-0 win Tuesday night, the Brewers extended their lead to 7.5 games over the Cubs for first place. Vaughn is turning out to be a steal for the Brewers, as Milwaukee only gave up veteran pitcher Aaron Civale and cash considerations for the first baseman on June 13. While Vaughn might have a case to be in the top 10, he has much work before he becomes a legitimate contender for the NL MVP. Per FanDuel, Los Angeles Dodgers star slugger Shohei Ohtani leads the race with -20000 odds. Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Kyle Schwarber is second with +1800 odds. Those two players have been more consistent this season, whereas Vaughn has come on strong since leaving Chicago.

San Diego made a big move at the MLB trade deadline to strengthen its bullpen, getting Mason Miller from the Athletics. In his first five games with the Padres, the 26-year-old right-hander has struck out 12 of the 20 batters he has faced, averaging a preposterous 20.3 strikeouts per nine innings. Three of those appearances have also resulted in holds as Miller has entered the game in the seventh or eighth inning ahead of closer Robert Suarez. Suarez leads all relievers with 33 saves this season and has been especially dominant since the All-Star break, posting a 1.86 ERA over 9.2 innings. That has continued what has been an incredibly strong season overall for the Padres bullpen. Entering Tuesday's play, the Padres' 3.02 cumulative ERA from their relievers is the best of any MLB team. Now, however, comes one of the biggest tests of Bowden's theory that San Diego's bullpen can be a difference-maker in the division. With the Dodgers holding a 1.0-game lead over the Padres in the division heading into Tuesday's play, many are already looking ahead to the next two weekends as games that will decide which team could earn not only the NL West title but also a potential first-round postseason bye. On Friday, the Padres visit Chavez Ravine for three games. On the following Friday (Aug. 22), the Dodgers invade Petco Park for a three-game set. Steelers' Mike Tomlin Delivers Stunning Praise For Common Weak Link On The Offensive Side Of The Ball
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a ton of new pieces to get integrated ahead of the 2025 NFL season. This is true for both sides of the ball, but the biggest X-factor for the team is a group that was in Pittsburgh during the 2024 season, and that is the offensive line. The unit is young outside of left guard Isaac Seumalo, as every other player is in their third-year or younger. Zach Frazier and Mason McCormick seem fairly reliable on the interior, while the tackle spots are going to be something fans keep a close eye on to begin the regular season. Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu are being relied upon to take care of business at the two tackle spots. Each player was selected in the first round of their respective drafts by the organization, with the franchise even trading up to grab Jones. Jones spent most of the last two seasons at right tackle, but he will be starting on the left side of the offensive line in 2025, which happens to be his natural position. Fautanu missed most of his rookie year in 2024, so he is looking to come into the season healthy, while being able to make a positive impact. Head Coach Mike Tomlin spoke about his tackle situation after practice on Tuesday, and he sounded impressed with the growth he has seen from the two players throughout training camp. "I think they’ve gotten better every day," Tomlin said. "Broderick got slowed by a little day-to-day groin injury there for a spell, but has really been on the uptick since his return. Same with Troy. I like the trajectory of the group. But even though we’re leaving Saint Vincent College, man, we still are very much in development. We’ve got a lot of time in front of us between now and the opener." Fans have been excited to see Fautanu on the field, but a large portion of the fan base has been worried about whether or not Jones would be good enough to start at left tackle. The initial reports out of training camp were a bit concerning, but it seems as though the young player has improved as he has gotten more comfortable returning to the left side. Jones had a rough season in 2024 as he struggled with penalties and giving up sacks. It is important to note that both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields had instances where they held onto the ball for far too long and ran into sacks, but some of that still falls on Jones. Jones and Fautanu were going against two pretty good pass rushers during Pittsburgh's first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker have each been two elite pass rushers in the their careers, and neither tackle allowed a pressure from either player. This is a good sign in Pittsburgh, as protecting Aaron Rodgers is going to be a top priority. Steelers' Tackles Have Been Battle-Tested Throughout Training Camp Both Jones and Fautanu have to go against some of the best in the world every day of practice. TJ Watt, Alex Highsmith, and Nick Herbig is as good of a trio at outside linebacker that anyone will find in the NFL, and they get to test the two young tackles every day. In addition to that, Pittsburgh has also upgraded the secondary. This likely makes Rodgers have to hang on to the football for a little bit longer, which tests the offensive line even more.
