It’s Bad News Bears time for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra fans. When you are passionate about a game genre, the last thing you want to hear is that it is being delayed. For Marvel lovers, Rise of Hydra was inspired by the Captain America and Black Panther comic series, Flags of Our Fathers, which was released back in 2010.

This action-adventure game is developed by Skydance New Media and is being published by Plaion. The timing takes place in Occupied Paris in World War II, where Steve Rogers teams up with Azzuri, who is the current Black Panther and king of Wakanda. The tension couldn’t be higher as they both have to learn to work together to bring down Hydra.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Is Worth Waiting For

Marvel 1943’s announcement came back in October of 2021 by Skydance and Marvel Games. The studio heads, Amy Hennig and Julian Beak, paved the way for the game and also got noted television and comic writer Marc Bernardin to write the story. It is modeled to be a narrative-driven action-adventure game that’s single-player.

Gamers will have the chance to play four famous Marvel characters. Naturally, there will be the chance to be Captain America and the Black Panther, and also the chance to be Gabriel Jones, who is a fearless member of the Howling Commandos, as well as spy Nanali. She is the leader of Wakanda’s network of spies.

Teaser Announcement: Waiting for the Trailer

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was first teased at the D23 Expo in September 2022, where its cast was also announced. They confirmed Khary Payton, Drew Moerlein would voice the roles of Rogers and Azzuri, with Marque Richardson filling the combat boots of Gabriel Jones, and Magalyn Echikunwoke playing Nanali. It was also announced that Joel Johnstone would be the soul for the NPC Tony Stark.

It was first announced that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra would be released during the holidays of 2025. Everything changed when developer Skydance Games announced on social media that the game would be delayed, with the new date set for early 2026. The statement also followed with the usual words that they want to give it the extra time to get it just right to ensure it lives up to its expectations.

More Delays

For most experienced gamers, this isn’t anything new, as highly anticipated video games are usually always delayed. For example, Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed to be released in late May 2026. Then there is Xbox’s Soup Pot, which is now set to come out in August. Crimson Desert had its trailer shown in 2020 and was planned to launch in 2021. It has been pushed back to come out later this year. Another large title name that is delayed is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was first set to come out in March of this year and still does not have a date given for its release.

The list continues with Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines 2, Pragmata, Replaced, Arc Raiders, and Arc games. True, we do live in a changing world with a great deal of things happening beyond our control, making expectant dates change. With supply problems, weather, injuries, or even using stalling a game as a time tactic. It isn’t all love and roses out there in the economic gaming world. Doing business with other companies, as well as outsmarting their competitors, sometimes it’s stalling a move on the chessboard that makes the others sweat.

What Do you Think?

No matter how you slice it, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra fans will have to wait a little longer to experience taking down the Nazi’s worst of the worst Hydra solders as Captain America and the Black Panther while trying to keep Paris standing. Will the wait be worth it, or do you think this is just another failure of foresight and planning? Are you willing to wait, or is this asking too much? Leave a comment below.
