Dead by Daylight just dropped its newest survivor, and she’s not messing around. Orela Rose is the latest character to join the roster in the new Steady Pulse chapter, and not only does she bring big support energy, she also comes with a backstory that hits like a stun to the face.

Raised in Rogers Park, Chicago, Orela grew up with heroism in her blood—her dad was a firefighter, and her mom worked in emergency care. Inspired by that same drive to help, she enrolled at Lakehead University and eventually met her best friend Emily. Together, they geeked out over horror lore and even dreamed of opening a haunted restaurant. Yes, really.

But things took a dark turn—because this is Dead by Daylight, after all.

A Tragedy That Changed Everything

The duo’s haunted house side hustle, The Haunted Madhouse of Doom, was a passion project. But during one event, a faulty wire led to tragedy: Emily was electrocuted and killed. Orela dropped out of college, switched careers, and threw herself into life as an EMT. She even saved the life of a wealthy investor who later funded her and Emily’s original dream—a horror-themed dining experience called Screams in the Dark.

Then came the cursed event. The black fog. And just like that, Orela became part of the Entity’s twisted playground.

Dead By Daylight In-Game Perks and Playstyle

Orela is here to support—and punish when needed. Her perks are all about survival, speed, and snapping back at killers who think they’ve got the upper hand:

  • Do No Harm – Faster healing and bonus progress when helping hooked allies.
  • Duty of Care – Take a hit for someone and boost their sprint speed.
  • Rapid Response – Dash out of a locker and catch a glimpse of the killer’s aura. Risky, but rewarding.

Representation That Matters

Orela isn’t just another survivor—she’s Dead by Daylight’s first openly trans character, voiced by the powerhouse that is Angelica Ross. Her arrival is a big moment for representation in horror games and shows, Behaviour’s continuing push toward diversity that actually feels earned.

Whether you’re here for the lore, the perks, or the real-world impact, Orela Rose is someone you’re going to want on your squad—and not just for the medkit.
