G2 Esports’ reward for qualifying out of the Bracket Stage is a match with GenG Esports. Many believe that GenG is the best team at the Mid-Season Invitational. G2 will have their work cut out for them if they want to defeat the LCK first seed and progress further in the Upper Bracket. Fortunately for the loser of this match, they are not eliminated from MSI and will move to the Lower Bracket.

GenG versus G2 is the only match scheduled for today. It will begin at 5:00 p.m. PST (2:00 a.m. CET, July 2nd). EU fans must once again stay up late to watch their team battle live against the LCK giants.
GenG Esports 3 – 0 G2 Esports
GenG are the favorites to win in any game against any opposition at this MSI. Even if G2 had better performances during the Play-In stage, the prediction would remain a 3-0 in GenG’s favor. G2’s strength during the Play-In Stage was their mid-laner, Caps. He was the predominant driving force behind their victory against GAM, finding individual leads in every game. However, against GenG, leveraging Caps’ lead will require a team effort. Chovy is the best mid-laner in the world and someone who rarely allows his opponent individual leads without team intervention. For EU fans, if G2 push GenG even to a game four, that is a good sign, heading further into the tournament.
The match between GenG and G2 is the first series of the MSI Bracket Stage. The winner will continue in the Upper Bracket, while the loser drops down the Lower Bracket. The first match of the following day between Anyone’s Legend and FlyQuest will determine both teams’ next matches. The two winning teams will battle each other in the Upper Bracket, while the losers face off in the Lower Bracket.
