A mystery is soon foretold, a surprising collaboration is revealed! As the hit mobile game NIKKE: Goddess of Victory will be receiving an event themed around the popular Resident Evil for the first time ever. Marking the first time company Shift Up has worked with long-time gaming studio Capcom–though surprisingly not pairing up the series that is well known for robots firing at bigger robots with the other series that has robots capable of the same thing. With this collab, the mansion with many memories around its residence, filled with zombies, becomes the newest evil that is tasked with dealing with.
As announced on their social media, the world of NIKKE will be seeing the appearance of content from Resident Evil–which will be seeing its latest game coming soon. What to expect from the collaboration was announced at the Future Game Show Gamescom, held today, August 20th, 2025, at 2 pm Eastern Standard Time/11 am Pacific Time.
Like with past collaborations with the mobile game, such as with Neon Genesis Evangelion and NiER: Automata, new characters will be able to be pulled in their themed banner. A couple of characters that originate from the series, such as Chainsaw Man’s Power and Makima, that were added previously, as well as themed costumes for NIKKE’s original cast, given like what we had received during the Dave the Diver collaboration.
During the timed event, a short story is added that introduces the characters of NIKKE to the world that they are collaborating. Though in a lot of cases, the game has also done general themed events for those interested, beyond seeing worlds cross paths.
NIKKE is a mobile gacha title developed by Shift Up, who also worked on Stellar Blade, for players to dive into either on their phones or even on PC. It features a shooter-style gameplay where you can have up to 5 characters on the battlefield, firing away. Like with many titles of its nature, characters are acquired by rolling on banners using in-game currency you can acquire by doing many tasks. The characters are all comprised of female robots called NIKKEs, who are all equipped with guns to take down giant robots that fight against them.
You, as the player, manage a team of these girls to send out on missions either by taking on little tasks, such as tending to each individual robot, or partaking in the gripping tale of the world in its Story mode. After acquiring enough in-game currency, or by spending real-world money, you are given the chance to roll for more characters in hopes of attaining the ones for you. The addictive nature that hopes to keep you entertained with daily missions and timed events to keep players engaged with the title.
While not much was shown in the trailer at the Future Game Show Gamescom presentation, we got our first glimpse at the first character to expect. Being the loveable main protagonist from the original Resident Evil game released way back on the Sony Playstation, being Raccoon City police agent: Jill Valentine! As to who will be joining her, we have yet to witness.
Though, as one of the most popular Resident Evil titles, and also having just received a remake a few years back, we could expect to see at least one character come from Resident Evil 4, either Ashley or Ada Wong. As like with previous collaborations with the game, they do not pull from the male cast, at most appearing briefly in story cutscenes or being briefly mentioned by the cast in the event-focused story.
