Nintendo Switch 2 Report Leaks Unannounced Game

As the Nintendo Switch 2’s June 5 release date draws nearer, fans are eager to learn more about the system’s game library. With the console’s $450 price tag generating controversy, the library will have to be stellar to justify the price. Now, it looks like the remaster of a classic Bethesda RPG might find its way onto the Switch 2.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on the Nintendo Switch 2?

The remastered version of Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was recently released for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam and a score of 87 on Metacritic, so a Switch 2 release would likely be welcome.  According to Comicbook.com, a user named “eXtas1s,” who is known for his Xbox leaks, reported that a port to the Switch 2 is “in active development.” However, it is currently unknown when it will be released.

Is the Leak Accurate?

Comicbook.com states that “while eXtas1s has proven reliable in the past, he has been off the mark in the past as well,” meaning that the leak might be false. As of the writing of this article, there has been no confirmation from either Bethesda or Nintendo of the port happening. However, if the leak is accurate, this could mean that massive games such as the Oblivion remaster will run well on the Nintendo Switch 2. Some Switch 1 ports were criticized for their downgrades, but with the Switch 2’s upgraded specs, that might not be as much of an issue anymore.

Nintendo and the Ninth Gaming Generation

If the leak is accurate, we might someday see a Switch 2 release of the upcoming Elder Scrolls VI. As Sony and Microsoft battle each other in the console wars, Nintendo tends to be content doing its own thing, but the Switch 2 might change that. Indeed, with first-party games such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza respectively costing $80 and $70, some gamers might flock to the $50 price tag that Oblivion Remastered carries. Of course, that’s assuming that the price isn’t raised for the Nintendo Switch 2 version. In today’s uncertain economy, we can’t rule out any possibility.
