On the Nintendo Switch, there are so many great new turn-based strategy games out there right now!  Enough to inspire me to write a whole list of them. I’ve put together the top five turn-based strategy games on Nintendo Switch in 2025. These games will keep you busy, and you can stay cozy on the couch with a hot cup of cocoa this fall!

1. Tactics Ogre Reborn

This Nintendo Switch game is a remake of a remake, as the title suggests. It was originally a PS1 game, but was then released as PlayStation Portable’s Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. It is now a single-player game, and the developers have no plans of creating any multiplayer or cooperative aspects. It is a battlefield game, and you are at war with two other factions for control of the fictional Valerian Islands.

2. The Banner Saga

The Banner Saga is a single-player game, but there is a multiplayer option available called The Banner Saga: Factions. The multiplayer option is free and allows players to use PvP combat. The Banner Saga is a tactical role-playing game and is inspired by Norse mythology. You control a caravan and explore a fantasy world while fighting the enemy Dredge.

3. Into the Breach

Into the Breach is a single-player game, and the developers have no plans for multiplayer or co-op features. This is a science fiction adventure. You are pitted against the alien Vek and are able to control a squad of mechs to protect the city. The game is done in pixel art style.

4. Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is strictly a single-player game. Fire Emblem’s “three houses” in the title refers to a decision you must make at the beginning of the game. You must pick one of the three houses to lead at the Garreg Match Monastery. How you choose will determine how the story progresses.

5. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp

This is another single-player turn-based strategy game. It is a remake of the first two games in the series, called Advance Wars (2001) and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole (2003). You can control land, air, and sea units in this game. Each map is tiled, and you move one tile at a time. Weather affects movement, and certain units can only be controlled in water, air, etc.

While these are all games that can be played on the Nintendo Switch, there are tons of other great turn-based strategy games for players to try on other platforms. This is just a small sampling.
