Planet Coaster 2 is a popular simulation game that allows players to build and manage their very own theme park. The game was originally released on November 6, 2024, and has since seen several updates come from the developer. On April 22, Frontier Developments will be dropping update number four, and this one is expected to be the largest one yet. Fans of the game have a lot to look forward to, as the well-received game appears to be getting even better.

Planet Coaster 2 Set To Add Content and Quality of Life Updates

Planet Coaster 2 received positive critical reviews upon release in November; however, some fans were underwhelmed by the release overall. The game notably added water park rides to the entry, but otherwise, things felt too similar to the first entry. Despite that, the game remained popular, and game developer Frontier Developments, the creators of the game, have been working to improve the experience for the players post-release. That has been reflected in the increase in positive player reviews since that time. So far, several free updates have been released for the game since launch day.

The developers recently released a YouTube video for Planet Coaster 2, highlighting the upcoming update 4 for the simulation, and fans ought to be excited for the huge changes. For one, the team will be adding restaurants to the game, something fans have been requesting for months. Adding this feature makes the park far more realistic than real-life theme parks. Players will get to not only choose from templates for the eateries, but also create their own.

More Customization

Also, upcoming to Planet Coaster 2 is pool customization. This feature includes both pool water color and pool tile color. One of the more popular modes in the game, Workshop support, will also be getting some tweaks. Newly added to the Workshop will be Feature Creators and Feature Creations. These sections will allow players to find other players’ content to be able to apply to their own parks.

The video highlighted these specific changes, but Planet Coaster 2 will be gaining other updates as well. The official game site outlined the full list of changes below:

Restaurants
Build and open your own restaurant facilities. Place counters, seating and tables to create your own eateries or use a blueprint to quickly create a dining area
Customise each menu by selecting different ingredients to suit your guest preferences and allergies
Pool Colour Customisation Options
You will now be able to change the colour of your pool water, pool tiles and water shape scenery items
There is also the addition of “Colour Strength” and “Lighting Glow” slides for pool water
Career Mode Sandbox Maps
Pre-made maps from Career mode Act 2 will be added to Sandbox mode as a starting point for creative projects
Rides
We’re adding the de-themed versions of two coasters for you to put your own creative spin on:

Pearl Rides – Spinning Manic Mouse

Valais & Nidwalden – Inverted – Flying

The Manta Ray and Mouse pieces from these coasters have now also been added as individual scenery pieces to be used throughout parks and on other rides.

We’re also bringing back the flat ride – Scizzer, fully rebuilt for Planet Coaster 2 and ready for you to customise and enjoy.

Workshop Changes

The main menu Workshop tab is getting some additional sections to show off more of the amazing work from our community. These are: Featured Creators, Featured Creations

You will now be able to follow your favourite Workshop creators and stay up to date with all of their uploads via a new Workshop screen.

Final Thoughts

The full update will be dropping on Tuesday, April 22. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, and the update will be free for players who already own the game. Fans have reacted positively to previous changes, and it appears that Frontier Developments has continued to listen to players, adding much-requested elements to the game. With a teaser of future plans to be announced on April 30, it appears Planet Coaster 2 has many more exciting additions on the horizon.
