For players who can’t participate in Pokemon GO Fest Madrid this year, the Spelunker’s Cove event is here for us stuck back home. In this Pokemon GO Spelunker’s Cove event guide, we will be going through everything that you need to know for this spelunking adventure.

Pokemon GO Spelunker’s Cove: June 15 at 10 AM to June 18, 2024 at 8 PM local time

The Spelunker’s Cove event in Pokemon GO is the global tie-in for Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Madrid. This event will feature Water-type and Rock-type Pokemon, all of which are also featured in Madrid for GO Fest.

The Pokemon GO Spelunker’s Cove event in Pokemon GO will last from June 15 at 10 AM to June 18, 2024 at 8 PM local time.

During this event, players will benefit from the 2× Candy bonus for simply catching Pokemon.

Spelunker’s Cove Featured Pokemon

As mentioned earlier, the Spelunker’s Cove event will feature Water-type and Rock-type Pokemon spawning more in the wild. What’s more is that this event will also mark the debut of Crabrawler’s shiny form!

As such, here is a list of all the featured Pokemon for the Slumbering Sands event:

• Geodude
• Rhyhorn
• Chinchou
• Marill
• Shuckle
• Remoraid
• Nosepass
• Feebas
• Carbink
• Crabrawler

As usual, all the featured Pokemon that have a shiny form available in the game can be shiny if you are lucky enough.

Featured Pokemon in Raids for Spelunker’s Cove

Spelunker’s Cove will also feature different Pokemon in multiple tiers of raids in Pokemon GO. Here is a list of the One-Star and Three-Star Raids during this event:

• One-Star Raids

  • Crabrawler
  • Wimpod
  • Jangmo-o

• Three-Star Raids

  • Onix
  • Kabutops
  • Crawdaunt

Just like mentioned the featured wild spawns for this event, Pokemon that have a shiny form available in the game can be shiny if you are lucky enough.

Event-themed Field Research Tasks Pokemon Rewards

The Spelunker’s Cove-themed Field Research Tasks during the event will also have the event-themed Pokemon as rewards. As such, here is a list of all the possible encounters you can get by completing the Spelunker’s Cove-themed Field Research Tasks:

• Geodude
• Nosepass
• Binacle
• Carbink
• Crabrawler
• Jangmo-o

For the third time in this article, Pokemon that have a shiny form available in the game can be shiny if you are lucky enough with the Spelunker’s Cove-themed Field Research Tasks rewards.

Mega Evolved Pokemon for Spelunker’s Cove

With a sizeable lineup of featured Pokemon in the wild, raids, and event-themed field research tasks rewards, there are a lot of choices for which Mega Evolved Pokemon to pick for its bonuses. As such, here are a few suggestions from us:

• Mega Evolve Slowbro for additional candies when catching Chinchou, Marill, Remoraid, Feebas, Wimpod, Kabutops, Crawdaunt, and Binacle.

• Encounters with Crabrawler
• 5× Premium Battle Passes
• 20× Crabrawler Candy

If you do buy this exclusive timed research, you have to finish this and get the rewards before Spelunker’s Cove ends, which is on June 18, 2024 at 8 PM local time.

Medals to Grind on Spelunker’s Cove

Trainers can obtain medals in the game by completing different objectives and reaching predetermined benchmarks. A few of those medals also provide ongoing in-game bonuses.

If the perks weren’t enough to persuade you, players actually do need to collect a certain quantity of medals, specifically the platinum medals which are the highest tier of medals, in order to continue rising up past Level 40. Players must obtain five Platinum Medals to reach Level 43, twenty Platinum Medals to reach Level 47, and thirty Platinum Medals to reach Level 49.

That said, here are the platinum medals players can grind for during this Spelunker’s Cove event:

Pokedex Medals

Completing Pokedex medals is as easy as registering Pokemon to the Pokedex. Here are the Pokedex medals you can possibly finish during this event:

• Kanto Medal – Register 151 Kanto region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Geodude and the rest of its evolution line, Rhyhorn and its evolution Rhydon, and Kabutops)
• Johto Medal – Register 100 Johto region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Chinchou and its evolution Lanturn, Marill and its evolution Azumarill, Remoraid and its evolution Octillery, and Shuckle)
• Hoenn Medal – Register 135 Hoenn Region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Nosepass, Feebas, and their respective evolutions, Crawdaunt)
• Kalos Medal – Register 72 Kalos Region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Binacle and its evolution Barbaracle, Carbink)
• Alola Medal – Register 86 Alola Region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Crabrawler, Wimpod, Jangmo-o, and their succeeding evolutions)

Pokemon Type Medals

Completing Pokemon type medals is as easy as catching Pokemon of a specific type. As this event features Water-type and Rock-type Pokemon, here are the two Pokemon-type medals you can definitely grind for during this event:

• Swimmer Medal – Catch 2,500 Water-type Pokemon
• Rocker Medal – Catch 2,500 Psychic-type Pokemon

Besides those two, here are the other medals you can grind with the other featured Pokemon during this Spelunker’s Cove event:

• Rocker Medal – Catch 2,500 Electric-type Pokemon (Chinchou)
• Dragon Tamer Medal – Catch 2,500 Dragon-type Pokemon (Jangmo-o)
• Bug Catcher Medal – Catch 2,500 Bug-type Pokemon (Wimpod)
• Fairy Tale Girl Medal – Catch 2,500 Fairy-type Pokemon (Carbink)
• Black Belt Medal – Catch 2,500 Fighting-type Pokemon (Crabrawler)
• Delinquent Medal – Catch 2,500 Dark-type Pokemon (Crawdaunt)

Miscellaneous Medals

There are other medals you can get by simply reaching certain milestones in Pokemon GO. With that in mind, here are the rest of the medals you can grind for during this event:

• Collector Medal – Catch 50,000 Pokemon
• Scientist Medal – Evolve 2,000 Pokemon
• Sightseer Medal – Spin 2,000 unique PokeStops
• Champion Medal – Win 2,000 Raids
• Rising Star Medal – Defeat 150 different species of Pokemon in Raids
• Rising Star Duo Medal – Win 2,000 Raids with a friend
• Pokemon Ranger Medal – Complete 2,500 Field Research tasks
• Backpacker Medal – Visit 50,000 PokeStops
• Jogger Medal – Walk 10,000 kilometers
• Picknicker Medal – Use a Lure Module to help any trainer catch 2,500 Pokemon
• Triathlete Medal – Achieve a Pokemon catch streak or PokeStop spin streak of seven days 100 times
• Mega Evolution Guru Medal – Mega evolve 46 different species of Pokemon
• Successor – Mega evolve a Pokemon 1,000 times
