It’s worth noting that this guide will primarily focus on the Global Edition of this new Masterwork Research. There is another version of the research story for anyone who’s attended Go Tour 2024 in Los Angeles and we’ll denote any changes between the two.

Step 1 of of 7

• Catch 492 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region: 492 XP
• Catch 492 Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region: 492 XP
• Catch 492 Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region: 492 XP
• Catch 492 Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region: 492 XP
• Complete all tasks in this step: Dialga Candy x10, Palkia Candy x10, Giratina Candy x10

Step 2 of 7

• Catch 20 Grass-type Pokémon: Burmy (Plant Cloak)
• Catch a Pokémon 7 days in a row: TBD
• Catch a Pokémon on 21 different days: TBD
• Complete all tasks in this step: Incense x1, Ultra Ball x30, Rare Candy XL x1

Step 2 in the Los Angeles-version wants you to catch ten Grass-types and reduces the time gates for the other two tasks to five and fifteen days, respectively.

We’ll update you on the next step’s tasks once they’re available. The Masterwork Research has started on February 19, 2024, so even if someone managed to complete the first step in a single day, we’ll have to wait 21 days before Step 2 can be completed at the earliest.
