As the first season of Ranked Battles in Pokémon Legends: Z-A comes to a close, The Pokémon Company has announced the details for the highly anticipated second season. Trainers around the world can prepare for a new set of challenges and exclusive rewards, including a coveted Mega Stone for the Kalos region’s final evolution fire-starter, Delphox.
The second season of Ranked Battles is set to begin on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. PST and will run until Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 9:59 p.m. PST. This gives players three weeks to climb the ranks and prove their skills in four-player, real-time online battles.
The headline reward for this season is Delphoxite, the Mega Stone that allows Delphox to Mega Evolve into Mega Delphox. This item cannot be obtained through normal gameplay, making participation in the ranked season essential for players who want to unlock this powerful form. To earn the Delphoxite, trainers must reach Rank K or higher by the end of the season. In addition to this grand prize, players can earn various other in-game items through battle rewards and promotion rewards as they climb from Rank Z up to the prestigious Rank A. These include useful items for training, such as Mega Shards, Bottle Caps, and Seeds of Mastery.
To ensure a fair and competitive environment, Season 2 has specific rules for participation. Eligible Pokémon for this season include those numbered from 001 to 229 in the Lumiose Pokédex, though Zygarde is excluded. While trainers can register Pokémon of any level from 1 to 100, all Pokémon will automatically be set to Lv. 50 for the duration of the battles. Regional forms are permitted, but teams are restricted to only one Pokémon of the same species.
Getting started in Ranked Battles is a straightforward process. From the main menu in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, players need to select “Link Play” and then “Ranked Battles” to begin challenging other trainers. To be eligible for the end-of-season rewards, you must complete at least one match, win or lose.
Once the season concludes, claiming your hard-earned rewards is just as simple. After the season ends, navigate back to the “Ranked Battles” menu via “Link Play,” and your rewards, based on your final rank, will be distributed to your game. Good luck to all trainers participating in Season 2!
