Resident Evil Requiem – Plant 42 Boss Fight Full Guide

Now that Resident Evil Requiem has released, players have noticed how difficult the game may feel, particularly with boss fights. Each boss fight comes with its own challenges and tricks to defeating them.

One unique boss fight you’ll encounter at the last stretch of your playthrough is the plant monster, Plant 42, which will block your way into the ARK, the last place you discover in the game. As I’ve said, there are certain tactics and tricks you must deploy to defeat this particular boss. Here is a full guide to defeating Plant 42 in Resident Evil Requiem.

Make Your Way Through the Subway Tunnels

After you leave the abandoned Raccoon City Orphanage, you’ll make your way to the ruined subway tunnels and follow the path. At some point, you’ll go through the train car hanging off a cliff, and Plant 42’s vines will start attacking you while you’re inside. Parry incoming attacks until it opens itself up, becoming vulnerable, so you can shoot it with one of your more powerful weapons, doing massive damage to it.

Kill the Duo of Tentacles Blocking the ARK’s Entrance

Once you do enough damage to it, the train car will collapse off the cliff it’s on, sending you barreling through a giant hole. Leon will, of course, maneuver himself downwards safely. This is also a great time when the game will give you a lot of loot, like ammo, so don’t forget to collect it all. You’ll eventually come across a metal cable that Leon will use to rappel even further down towards the ARK.

Follow the path, and you’ll eventually make your way to the ARK’s entrance; however, it will be blocked by a duo of tentacles from Plant 42. To defeat them, aim at the plant heads and shoot. After you kill these two, another two will spawn, and you’ll have to kill those two as well before you can proceed.

Collect All Items Before Fighting the Central Body

There will be a point where you can jump off a ledge, and you’ll need to do that. The game will give you time to prepare for the final battle by giving you the necessary ammo to fight Plant 42, so make sure you collect it all.

Keep Moving and Shoot it’s Open Head

Plant 42 will emerge from the undergrowth. Because it is so big, you won’t have a lot of room to move around in this area; however, moving around a lot and keeping your distance is essential to fighting this boss. This boss battle is pretty straightforward: Plant 42 slams down its tentacles, and this is the main way it attacks.

Between attacks, Plant 42 will occasionally open its head, making itself vulnerable to gunfire. You can do massive damage to it during this time, especially if you use your shotgun or Requiem. Repeat this process until Plant 42 reacts enough to reveal a truck full of gas canisters and explosives underneath its massive body. This will be the key to killing Plant 42 once and for all.
