Remember the good ol’ days of the PlayStation Showcase? No? Think State of Play, but way beefier. These events were the main stage where Sony pulled out all the stops—massive reveals, surprise trailers, and hype levels that sent Twitter (sorry, X) into meltdown.
The last true PlayStation Showcase happened in May 2023, and it brought some serious heat:
Since then? Crickets. Okay, not crickets—more like “global issues” and industry shifts that left Sony sitting quietly. But that silence might be about to break.
Show is brewing. Should have more solid info to put out in a week or two. pic.twitter.com/XzAc6QY7My

Industry insider Jeff Grubb hinted back in February that Sony could be prepping a full-on PlayStation Showcase for summer 2025. And if Grubb’s right (he usually is), this could be the announcement drop we’ve been waiting for to kick the second half of the year into overdrive.
He didn’t spill specifics, but the implication? Juicy. We’re talking in-house devs finally breaking their silence, long-awaited sequels, and maybe—just maybe—a first look at some mystery titles that’ve been in stealth mode since launch day.
Then there’s Detective Seeds, another trusted name in the leaker circuit, who tweeted that something is “brewing” at PlayStation HQ. While vague (as always), he hinted more info would surface within weeks. Until then, he’s keeping it cryptic—because, of course, he is.
Let’s speculate wildly responsibly, shall we?
Marvel’s Wolverine (Insomniac Games)
Announced in 2021. Since then? Radio silence. If a new PlayStation Showcase is real, this game better pop its claws.
Ghost of Yotei (Sucker Punch)
The rumored sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. A 2025 PS5 launch has been whispered, making this PlayStation Showcase the perfect place to unveil it properly.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet (Naughty Dog)
If the leaks are true, this new IP is a major departure for Naughty Dog, and fans are hungry for anything after the Last of Us multiplayer fumble (does anyone remember?).
Horizon Co-Op Adventure (Guerrilla Games)
A co-op game in the Horizon universe? Yes, please. We’re ready to fight a Thunderjaw with Aloy and the homies.
Saros (Housemarque)
From the team behind Returnal, this one’s still shrouded in mystery. But if it blends Housemarque’s chaotic bullet ballet with new-gen power? Count us in.
And hey—rumors are swirling that Kratos may be heading back to his Greek settings (no Loki? Darn!). Is this a God of War prequel? A side story? A time-traveling rage fest? No clue yet, but if it’s real, it’ll break the internet.
Look—we’ve been burned by hype before. But when both Grubb and Seeds are hinting at movement, and Sony’s first-party teams have been way too quiet lately, it’s hard not to feel the tension building.
Whether we get a July banger or a surprise drop later in the year, one thing’s clear: Sony has cards to play. And if a new PlayStation Showcase is coming? It’s gonna be stacked.
So yeah, get hyped—but maybe keep one eye on the salt shaker until it’s official.
