Sims 4 Base Game Update – Beautiful Glass Walls!
- The Sims 4 Glass Walls courtesy of EA

Welcome to July! Simmers should be excited for the base game update that was released. Sims 4 players can now take advantage of quality-of-life improvements and glass walls! This one is in preparation for the Enchanted by Nature Expansion release.

Sims 4 Glass Walls

It’s what you came for, so we’ll start with the juiciest part of the update. In The Sims 4, you won’t have to try to make glass walls out of windows anymore. Huzzah! In Build Mode, go to the Wall Patterns and select the miscellaneous filter. That’s the icon that looks like a square with 3 dots on it. That’s where you’ll find several options for glass wall patterns that match the glass roofs. Holy cow plant! Finally.

Also, plants can now be placed on roofs. You’ll find compatible plants under Roof Sculptures and in Outdoor Plants; you can hover over them to check if they are “Roof Placeable.”

Quality-of-Life Improvements

We also received a few other improvements. First up, if your Sim likes to carry around all of their stuff with them, the new sort options will help you out. In your Sim’s inventory, look for sort options: New, Price, Filter, Crafted Quality, and Rarity. The sort options are applied to storage objects like refrigerators and chests. Spoiled food has a red background and will automatically move to separate stacks.

The Notebook has some updates, too. They changed the layout so it looks nicer now. There are new category pages, discovery badges, a back button, and access to Household Collections and Sim Stats. Console players have better scrolling using the right analog stick.

The Household Collections interface in The Sims 4 has also had a glow-up. When your Sim finds a new collection item, their Inventory button will animate. Once you’re in the Household Collections page,  there are badges for each category and a progress bar around each one. You can sort by completion progress or name. And, there are sort options in each collection for Rarity, Name, Recent, Bonus Items, and Missing.

Bug Fixes!

There are quite a few bug fixes. We’re going to focus on the ones we think are most interesting.

  • First, the rain is gone! Or at least, it will stay outside where it belongs. Go ahead and turn rain and snow back on. It will stop coming through the roof now.
  • You know those planters in Henford-on-Bagley, Chestnut Ridge, and Moonwood Mill? They’re so sad and empty. Now your Sim can plant something there. Let’s beautify the place!
  • The Hot Tub is now open for more spicy interactions. If you know what I mean!

There are a lot of pack-specific updates as well. Check out the full patch notes if you want to peruse them.
