Strange Antiquities is the newest Paper Please-like game, and if you’re looking for a cozy type of horror game, this is the one for you. Strange Antiquities is a puzzle-adventure game where we start a new job as a shopkeeper in an occult shop called Strange Antiquities. We must help our afflicted customers by selling them occult remedies and solving puzzles to unlock the secrets of the shop we work at. Here’s a full review of the game and what gamers have to say about it.
Strange Antiquities is the follow-up to Iceberg Interactive‘s Strange Horticulture and is pretty much everything you would hope for in a puzzle-adventure game. It’s pretty similar to Papers Please, another puzzle game, but with witchcraft and a cat. The game is set to release in a couple of days, but some people have gotten to experience the demo. Players are praising the intricate and methodical design of the puzzles and how it progresses the story the more you figure them out.
Just like Papers Please, customers walk into the shop and ask for items and/or remedies we can find in our encyclopedia, where we must match the description of what they are looking for with the items we have in the store. There also seems to be some secrets lying around the store, something that has to do with a locked cabinet and an engraved desk.
This is an all-out puzzle game, where puzzles are the answers. The puzzles are pretty difficult, but the game has a hint system that helps balance out the difficulty. The game even tells you which clues were the most relevant in solving puzzles, too. The encyclopedia is your best friend. It tracks every single new information you gather, and you can always refer back to it if you need, and you most likely will need to because the game often refers back to key information you recorded earlier. All in all, this is a cozy puzzle game that takes you on a journey as you start a new job in a shop full of mystery.
