The Subnautica 2 dev vlog landed on April 23, 2025, and it’s got fans talking. Unknown Worlds Entertainment gave us a first look at what’s coming in the early access phase later this year. For anyone who loves diving into gaming news, this update is worth keeping an eye on. You can catch more updates like this over at Total Apex Gaming’s news section. Here’s what I found most interesting from the vlog.
The vlog, hosted by design lead Anthony Gallegos, showed off some exciting features for Subnautica 2. It’s built with Unreal Engine 5, and the underwater world looks incredible. Think vibrant colors and eerie depths. One big highlight is co-op gameplay, a first for the series. You’ll be able to explore with friends, which could change how we experience this alien ocean.
There are also new creatures, from friendly little swimmers to ones that might make you pause before diving in. New vehicles were teased too, promising smoother travel, and base building is getting some fresh options for customization. If you want to see it in action, the full video is up on YouTube. For a deeper dive into Unreal Engine 5’s impact, check out IGN’s breakdown.

Subnautica 2 will hit early access in 2025 on platforms like Steam, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store, plus it’ll be on Game Pass. The team expects this phase to run for 2–3 years, which gives us plenty of time to explore and give feedback.
Unknown Worlds is serious about involving the community. They’re asking players to join their Discord server and share thoughts. One feature fans are pushing for is proximity chat for co-op, something ScreenRant picked up on, too. It’s cool to see the devs so open to ideas.
I’ve always liked how Subnautica pulls you into its world, and hearing about this community focus makes me think the sequel could be even better. The vlog also nods to the original’s success with over 6 million copies sold, according to Levvvel. There’s a lot of hype to live up to.
This Subnautica 2 dev vlog has me hooked. Co-op gameplay, a new world to explore, and a chance to help shape the game. It’s all pretty exciting. Whether you’ve played the first one or not, this feels like a good time to get into the series. I’ll be keeping an eye on Total Apex Gaming as we get closer to the early access launch later this year. What do you think about these updates? Let me know. I’m curious to hear from other fans.
