Switch 2 GameCube Controller Shortage Hits Before Launch

With the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 just around the corner, there’s a realization that there’s only one original title for the whole next-gen console. That just means there’s going to be a lot of exclusive stuff when everything drops.

This, oh dear readers, includes GameCube games to the NSO Expansion Pass. Yes, fellow Millennials and newer generations—you too can now replay the games of old and the games you’ve only heard of from the old!

We Need the Controller!

So what is it that we need in order to complete the GameCube experience? Of course, it is to have the GameCube controller to play them!

Well, there is good news from up on high! The Switch 2 will have its own GameCube controller! Sadly, that’s where the good news ends, because these little bad boys have been very hard to find during the console pre-order window—like the days of old when trying to find the best gaming equipment to fit your aesthetic.

We can’t completely blame Nintendo because they do add more stock to the online store. It’s just that everyone’s so thirsty for it that it is sold out as soon as it hits the digital shelf. And that remains true because even though the restock only happened around 3 days ago at the time of writing this article—it is already sold out! Pretty impressive considering the price hike that happened to a lot of consoles and their accessories.

Don’t Hold Your Breath

With the launch day as close as it is, there is a good chance that there’s not going to be another restock until after the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. So those who haven’t had a chance to purchase a GameCube controller for the new Switch—you’re probably going to be out of luck until after June 5th.

This Switch 2 GameCube controller is almost identical to the original that was used to play original GameCube games. The only addition was the C button, and we all know what that does.

There is a fear of controller use when it finally gets around to the buyer, as many believe that it wouldn’t function with non-GameCube games. This really hit the Metroid Prime 4 players hard!

But Nintendo has confirmed that you will be able to play all games with the controller, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be issues when you do try using it to play non-GameCube titles.

You Are Not Alone

Like we said—if you haven’t already purchased one of these or a Nintendo Switch 2, the chances of you actually getting one are very negligible at best. Enjoying the party, you are not alone, crying on the inside.

Hopefully, after the launch day, everything will become more readily available to those who weren’t lucky enough to have the funds or the bandwidth to do a proper pre-order (crossing fingers under the desk).
